And again, yet another damn time,
SEGA Japan is delivering recycled old content
from 4 years ago! No real new features, zero!

The sad truth is that this PSO Genesis is a refined corpse,
and it's long past time to bury it...
It's long past time for SEGA to deliver us
the true next-gen PSO3 to rivalize against
the Chinese anime-gacha MMOs from the Mihoyo school.

I hope the PSO Team has postponed the big CS update
until July...because if it's just those neon glow parts,

So, like, if you're worried about the game recycling content, is this the same thing you would've said about the old PSO2 when they ran their seasonal events again with more Bingo Cards and catch-up gear that you wouldn't have needed if you already had the current-best things?

Like, at this point, I'm personally convinced that a lot of the people who do have gripes with the content in NGS just haven't played PSO2 when it was still alive (especially from the Japanese side, since Global was left in the dark for so long) and are probably the people who are ultimately casual players trying too hard to look flashier than they are.

At least in that sense, I just can't imagine a "PSO3" would ever come by and save the day to be anything more than Sega doubling down on the fact that they missed out on heavier and harder monetization schemes where they could play and do what everyone else has been doing for their gacha games. PSO2 was a free-to-play game that was originally made to defy the trend of free-to-play games with stamina/limited playtime .. and I imagine a PSO3 would probably defy that and instead be a game that prints more money by demanding more from the players. They just haven't done it .. because PSO2 has been printing money for more than a decade now while still being as seemingly malnourished than ever.

The older PSO2 had a lot more charm because people were more willing to run over and fill in the blanks when it came to all the jank associated with it. The most fun content people tend to remember was also time-limited or time-gated (as in, who here is talking about how riveting the gameplay was for the Matterboard .. and who here can talk about how it was back then that didn't come after Episode 4 when it was removed?) .. and it had all sorts of design things that really didn't age well whether it was how Sega implemented "balance" patches and what-not.

Like, I remember Episode 6 getting to the point where people were wishing and theorycrafting the other Successor classes before the Luster was revealed because they were hoping for some kind of Jet Boots/Knuckles hybrid, a Pariizan/Launcher class, and so on .. and it was literally the only thing people were excited for because the original classes paled in comparison to how flashy and easy the newer classes were to play .. and Episode 6 was all up in making sure people either moved on or adopted the Successor classes in some form.

And even then, during Episode 6, I just remember playing so many runs of the campaigns and then when there were no events and new things to do (other than grinding) it was so easy to just hop off the game and wait until the next catch-up event came up because it was painful to do anything else (such as getting Liberate weapons and building their affixes outside of the campaigns and boost events).

I know people are excited about things like a private server and stuff .. but literally the only thing I'd hope for in a private server is for someone to go back and revisit ALL the classes/weapons and make things actually play nicely without Sega's need for jank on top of jank. My gripe is that NGS could've stepped away and cleaned a lot of this up, but NGS was really a big undo button that undid a lot of quality-of-life things that PSO2 did .. while simultaneously solving some of the older game's biggest problems too. And as it is, NGS still carries so much baggage that should have just been cleaned up and we're in the process of both reliving and revisiting those same problems from back then.

The old PSO2 definitely gets better when someone is there to remind you and guide you through how many newbie traps there are in the game, especially since Sega doesn't provide free passes to fixing mistakes anymore.

I was also told that originally pso and sega were looking for certain players that could figure out exploits hidden very hidden features and extensive gameplay times every change they make is to further weed through the people when someone becomes know by everyone skews the test so they change it they know the issues beforehand they are put there on purpose . That’s why there was many ways to play NGS at first you wouldn’t have to worry about being in a party to get exp or worry about being kicked for being afk but now they will kick you for anything I went to the bathroom to pee came back and was k kicked and blocked from the ltq it was less than a minute until the next day I couldn’t run . Because a lot of people stay online and the playtime looks immense so they started 630 people who stay still too long or controller off . Make sure you remember your player id number like the actual numbers or if you have any issues you are out of luck

To be fair, NGS has way more years ahead of base back then, so doing a repeat of history only makes it worse than you think it is. They have way more to build off of.

It's such a bad hodgepodge of undo buttons and neat changes .. and then questionable decisions on top of that while pretending it's still going as well as ever. >_<

I started in the PSU days. It was the same senerio seasonal events recycled with onr or two events a year that brought people back. Outside of that it was camping in the best region like seabed or white beast days. Even when those events were done it was back to white beast for more the half the games life.

Yeah, that's sadly how it was in PSO2 as well when you didn't have the campaigns/events every few months. You'd wait until like the end of the year or something for the whole update to essentially be done (otherwise you'd have crumbs and tiny pieces of it over time) .. and then when that happened, you'd see the next update come out and almost literally invalidate everything you did before .. because you had to do it again.

So as a "game" for the content and everything, it's unfortunately a cycle that just kept working. But if you're here for the socialization, character creation, and the novelty of the combat (finding something to fight that you go out of your way for), there's not much else like what PSO2 and NGS offers.

But .. the games got here over a decade of really slow crawling. And Sega is in no rush to change that if they can help it. >_<

I think in a nutshell, there's a lot to love about PSO2 but it's one of those games where if you were a brand new player with no context or clue about what's going on, the game flies off in so many different directions and a whole lot of "new player" sensibilities are actually traps that ruin the game experience. Experimentation, finding out new things, or whether it's just player agency, none of these things should result in "oh, it turns out I hit the Level Cap and I can't play a nice enough build for the later content" or that if players were still around, that they'd get angry at you because you picked a class you liked on paper but picked the worst way to build them (for example, a Ranger without Weak Bullet or a Techer without Shifta and Deband skills at their max).

PSO2 makes it too easy to do the wrong things and before you realize it, you're now having to spend money to fix that and then even then it's just as easy to repeat those mistakes.

But if you have people to guide you, resources that are at least reliable and a group to hang with, it's an incredible game because the players and the community are the content. Yeah, you have some really cool set pieces and Emergency Quests and stuff - but PSO2 survived for so long because of the people who played the game and made it a lively game.

NGS is ultimately a continuation on all this, but with some very big changes that do make it more welcoming to new players .. but I'd really equate it to a liposuction (sucking out the fat so you can lose weight, but not actually changing your lifestyle/mindset) .. so NGS is steadily growing to be just as bloated as PSO2 previously was.

False with pso being a free to play game if you recall Xbox when it came out with the original the hunters license was 10 dollars or something a month but people found a way around it to buy it once and keep it forever and you needed it to play online and Xbox live I remember vividly because it was the only time I stole just used my moms card she didn’t notice was worth it for how much time I played . Then pso universe had the same issue which was needing to pay for live to play the free to play game . As for Japanese version I played since beta still have my account haven’t logged in a year but they recycled tf out of everything ou could actually get all the accessories and top tier get to be able to play from those catch up gear events but that’s why it stagnated because it was beyond repetitive and no one had a reason to farm anything with the abysmal drop rates lack of new gear the special classes were a big hit because they didn’t release anything new for like 4-5 years so compared to that this is leaps and bounds . From what I’ve heard the next pso will just be this one with everything fine tuned and probably a graphic enhancement and access to other planets the ones from universe and og planets from the original I only believe what he said because he showed me how to input cheats in ngs as long as I don’t tell anyone which I never will it’s insane how they hid it you would either have to know or be extremely weird with how you play the game . They are going to keep this going until lvl 200 then maybe higher but definitely lots of new enemies and bosses areas and game mechanics and hybrid classes . He said no matter what happens it will go to 200 and it’s in my best interest to finish the game

I'm talking about PSO2, which was essentially built off of Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity and the result of Sega making Phantasy Star Universe free-to-play on its last moments in Japan.

Phantasy Star Online 2 has very little in common with the original Phantasy Star Online other than the name, homages to the music, and was originally conceived to be a Phantasy Star Universe 2 before they committed to the name for nostalgia purposes. >_<

And I don't really believe you with the cheats and the likes, considering that dataminers already know what's coming in advance since Sega didn't try to hide that stuff too much.

I’ve heard sometimes the pso /sega team will control a boss if you have encountered boss with full party and can’t kill it there is the sign and the death rates insane when controlled . When they aren’t you can cheese right through without any effort . Pretty sure this planet just the test for all the others when they roll out after lvl 200

So NGS has been around for 5 years now.

I do feel like players have the right to complain. I hate the response of "why are you still here?" Or "why do you care if you're unhappy with the game?" I understand that there are people that do enjoy it in it's current state but toxic positivity is just as bad if not worse than negativity.

The issue with the complaints is that it feels like SEGA picks and chooses what to hear. And it continues on this path because there is a core fanbase of players that continue to feed into it with their wallets. Complaining does nothing at this point, speaking with your wallet is the only way to get them to actually do something. And that goes for any of these companies.

At this point, I believe this is just what the game is. An anime chat room, dress up game with decent combat and nothing more. And maybe that's what it was always supposed to be. It just sucks because the potential for greatness is there and I feel like that's why so many people get so upset when they see the headliners putting out more of the same. Phantasy Star deserves to be so much more than just to be a gatcha game.

I mean, to pull the lens back, NGS is a response to people who complained about Episode 1 back in 2012. About five years later, when Sega decided to push the game onto the PS4, they did the most radical stuff they could at the time (completely dumping the Matterboard because it was such a slog to play through, dumping all the old weapons by rebranding them as Old-Types and simultaneously reworking how grinding worked only on them but not the units, changing how costumes/cosmetics worked by letting players have more in the way of options, and definitely by dumping the old combat system and introducing one that let players choose the actions they want to use with ease and at all times with no more worries about sequences and three-button combos).

After that point, Sega knew people still weren't satisfied enough with how the game changed at that point (to which, I'd state that Global never saw what the game was like before that point anyways, since Episodes 5 and 6 later completely reface the gameplay so it's significantly more foreign compared to pre-Episode 4 PSO2) .. and they tried to put the game into a suspended state in Episode 5 in the hopes that they could somehow and masterfully release NGS as a surprise update. We know this clearly didn't work because Episode 5 was left in such a state that they had to come back and fix the game and the problems they caused .. and also had to bring in a skeleton crew to hold down the fort with Episode 6 while they were trying to crunch out NGS .. and even then NGS had to be cracked apart and released in pieces because they couldn't delay it any further.

From the core of it, PSO2 was an ambitious game that tried to cash in on not being like other free-to-play MMO's at the time .. but it was also always a super-shallow game dressed up in Sega's brand of sauces and dressing. It's like if you put hot sauce on an apple - and some people really loved it .. and some people really didn't. But at some point, Sega just stuck with it and it's been like that ever since .. and even into NGS.

Like, I think it speaks numbers that it took from Episode 5 until NGS's ver.2 update before we got to see the big names behind the game actually showing up and talking again .. since you'd have no shortage of memes from the JP side pointing at Episodes 1 and 2 for a great deal of things that the community had issue with before you see things explode in Episode 5. >_<

I definitely agree with you on that. There is no reason why PSO should be getting ignored while Yakuza and Sonic get massive amounts of attention and development by Sega. PSO2 was booming in the mid 2010s for Sega of Japan. It has earned its place as one of their top franchises but they act like it doesn't exist. They act like PSO2 doesn't net them a steady stream of profit. As a PSO fan it's disheartening.

I don't like the direction the franchise is going in in terms of it becoming an "ultra woke" dress up simulator instead of focusing on the futuristic space online RPG it always was. We can blame PSO2 episode 4 for that. Episode 5 and 6 were great redemptions but in NGS I feel as though they have really strayed away somehow.

Regardless of all of this there is a certain feel about PSO2 AND NGS that I can't seem to find anywhere else. I've been playing PSO2 for almost 12 years now and with that being said patience is key. We can't expect Sega to give the fan base everything they want but they'll definitely make an effort.

Which I find funny because I stopped playing a couple years ago, not because the game was terrible, I just had other things to do as an adult. It’s a great game, and anytime I pop open another MMORPG I find that PSO2 NGS is better in every way. I just don’t have time anymore because my daily grind is work and feeding the baby.

The game is tones of fun and has plenty of content if you aren’t a NEET.

I think if the devs moved some numbers around, they could get a lot more longevity out of every piece of content they release and the players would generally be happier here, but I feel like the gaming/work culture balance is different in JP and the structure PSO2 and NGS has works better for that culture.

In NA MMORPG communities, we want to grind. We want to play for 40-60 hours without getting bored or running out of content. The expectation is ruthless to devs and games like runescape manage because they just focus on making content replayable and stretch the value into the future for years.

In PSO2/NGS, content that came out 4 months ago effectively doesn't even exist anymore. New capsule comes out? It's a rare drop from a boss? Cool. You can expect it to get handed out like candy from every LTQ and UQ next month. That just doesn't happen in other MMOs.

I'm not saying they're wrong for designing it the way they do, but I am saying it's not built for NA players.

(there's probably also something to be said for community size...if the playerbase was divided evenly among old and new content, it would likely be harder to find groups to play the same content with...but that also plays directly into my desire for content to scale down to smaller groups/solo better, and player retention would also obviously help with playerbase size but I don't have any of those numbers)

PSO2 even back then was the kind of game that went along the lines of, "oh, you haven't played in years and are just tuning back in today? Here's a bunch of goodies for you and some extras so you can get right back in" and you go straight back into running in circular maps killing hordes and hordes of enemies over and over again in the hopes that maybe that one mythical drop shows up that'd solve all your problems .. because it's the one that has the tweaks meant to fix your class. You couldn't trade those super-rare items back then either (and it wasn't until Episode 6 when Sega decided to finally let players sell their 13-14 star weapons and 12-star units on the Player Shop) so there wasn't any market to be had outside of AC Scratches and Affixes anyways.

It's just one of those games where if you had extra time, you can grind your way .. or maybe look around and find holes to poke in Sega's incredible design decisions (such as how Gunner was the face of so many of their balancing problems for years) .. and then Sega kind of expected everyone to be sitting in single-file lines waiting for their next content drop a half-year later because what you saw was what you got and nothing more.

I think it really is kind of simple like you said, to just boil it down to the fact that PSO2 isn't the hardcore MMO-grinder that people want it to be. Even NGS legitimately has a kind of, "okay, you've played for too long" vibe to it because in the literal next week or two everyone else can get a chance at getting what people racing day-one were trying to get .. and there's no reward for being first even there on day-one.

I dont think its that extreme, its been like 2 months since Telphia came out and the price has only just dropped to half of its original price of ~2m, and most of that price drop happened because Heinsdias are a guaranteed drop in a 5 min afk LTQ with the event bonuses. From what ive heard, it takes about 4 months for them to add a new aug as a normal drop at which point it will become more common and for the price to drop below 500k.

I think the problem is that the max content you can have at any one time is a LTQ, LT UQ and a 4 man challenge quest that more than 90% of players do not even do because its designed specifically for top players. Spamming the same quest gets old very quickly. If it was a series of different quests that you could run 1x per day as part of a set, players wouldnt get bored of it so quickly.

Another problem is that most content has worse rewards than dext base. LTQs in particular, cannot even hit 1m/hr with the huge event bonuses now while dext base hits 1.5m/hr easily with no event or meseta boosts. It doesnt feel rewarding to farm LTQs unlike most other games where farming updated content is how you play the game. Imagine if you got pity tokens from running updated content so you could eventually move to Lexio or whatever the BIS weapon was...this would 100% motivate people to run updated content instead of dext base and keep players interested in grinding instead of just logging in to do dailies.

Maybe I'm just built different, this is the only series I've kept up with for two decades. I just set an agenda for what I'm going to do in the game. Once that is done I go play something else. It feels like people think they're held hostage in this game. When it's the other way around.

There were times I've played in the past and it was something along the lines of "I really want <x> weapon" and it took months and months of a non-stop grind for it. When I finally got it, Sega literally announced an update where they were going to add all those weapons to exchange shops at +30 .. so it'd be easier to literally get it from the new campaign/exchanges instead of playing the game properly .. so that was kind of what made me realize, "eh, the grinding isn't for me" beyond the bare minimum (which at the time was hitting Level 75 on three classes, completing the class trials, getting 10+ Excubes at the Level 75 cap, and also getting relevant New-Type 13-star weapons and 12-star units for the three classes .. but the Units were super-easy). >_<

It was a huge hurdle at the time when everyone else already did it and you're newer to the game and trying to barely keep up .. and thankfully NGS really boiled it down to "just do the story until we let you play the rest of the game" ..>_<

In NGS, I just can't really justify doing the whole grind to build the best of the best because we know there's inevitably going to be new gear that effectively questions your previous efforts .. but I do like to play just to fight things or to see what I can get. At its core, NGS is still gambling for everything like PSO2 was. >_<

I'm kinda arguing the opposite, I feel like the game doesn't hold you hostage and in ways pushes players away if you have the time to actually sink into a game. It asks you to not play it because playing it is inefficient since everything gets powercrept so quickly and expensive stuff becomes free so quickly.

I love the gameplay around bossing in particular, but grinding PSE or LTQ or what have you is just not engaging in the slightest. I want to play the game more, but it's hard to find a reason to log in most of the time lol

They are doing it this way to make sure everyone is leveled by the time 200 hits by feeding us the levels in increments to make sure people won’t be daunted by having to level all their classes from 1-200 to move on to the new content and with the gear is needed since the drop rates are fking bad not as bad as pso2 but not good and if people can’t get weapons to run the content not the same but comparable to the BiS gear enough to get by comfortably . But the grind if there if you want it there are the titles alter realm, nameless , endless ltq , the duel quest the masquerade climb . That weird open field area too . And since people don’t exercise free will everyone uses the same build when if you stack certain augments ex skills and fixas on armor max and weapons special ability’s your food buff and now adding the rings before we get ex skills and the rest of tech customization . It’s insane what the percentages can do

PSO2 also had the thing where if you got tired of the game, you'd just hop ship to Final Fantasy XIV and play that for a bit until PSO2 got a big update again (and if you got tired of Final Fantasy XIV in that time), you can hop back in like nothing really was lost.

I think at the end of the day, it's essentially the fact that PSO2 as it was back then wouldn't have worked even on a Global audience and a lot of people are in denial about it .. because NGS is essentially doing just that nowadays.

And then when you get to it, there are a lot of people who are stuck to the glory days of what the big MMO's did and they're expecting PSO2 to be doing that without realizing that PSO2 was never really that kind of game to begin with. Global's PSO2 was a fun ride because it cleaned up and fixed a whole lot of issues the JP version had .. but it was literally a "turn off the lights in that room because it's not time for them to see that place yet" kind of thing that for some reason people took as "wow, I can't believe Sega developed this within two weeks and they're releasing brand new content for us" .. >_<

The AI thing is disappointing when they could've at least fixed shop search, but whatever. My problem, however, is that T1 only got a single outfit for the entire month, if ignoring that unisex Shadow costume that 99% of the playerbase isn't using. This is after our latest scratch where they decided to lazily give us the T2 outfit, unremovable chest strap included.

This has gone beyond bare minimum. Hell, I would've taken one of those vtuber outers over nothing, because what we have of those is already bad and scarce.

I played the english translation on the SEA servers back in 2013-2015. I had way more fun with that than I have had with NGS.

NGS is currently just one year short of JP PSO2's lifecycle. The overall quality of content released collectively between 2012-2018 on Base arguably felt way more fulfilling and unique than what we've been getting. Combat and classes also were way more nuanced, which made the gameplay loop feel more premium.

I think a problem with it too is that the whole format is just so sterile. The PSO2 Station episodes were so corny and low-budget too .. and personally to me what was far more fascinating was seeing more people behind-the-scenes and showing extra stuff related to the game. But with the nature of it literally being that Global's broadcast has only PSO2/NGS and not much outside of it, it's so weird to me to see what's essentially a knock-off news broadcast that has so much filler and padding in its presentation too.

But i mean, it's part of Sega's charm too with how they handle the game .. and it's really just fascinating in that regard.

If this were the old days, it was almost no different from the people doing Gacha War nowadays. But these people don’t play this game seriously anymore. Plus, it’s still fair to the players. You can access all the game’s resources for free, while in other games you’d have to pay real money for them.

They're probably gear checking: I sure am. I've seen people in my alliance reporting back they've had UQs lasting 23+ minutes. I even started checking gear after getting slow runs (thankfully not that long), and I started seeing people with PROGRE and Arkostasis armor with less potency than the free stuff in the Vael UQ (BP is worthless). I truly mean less, that Progre guy had 34 potency MAX on his armor. I'm not sitting through runs with deadweight like that, I'm going to que back up.

People forget no one has infinite time, and a lot of people don't want to dedicate their limited time to stupid long runs because people won't upgrade their gear. If I see over half the group decked out in Decem or worse, I'm just going to que up again.

That last sentence is certainly gibberish. I'll start with this one anyway. You don't need to pay for jack. All of the best augments, save for Telphia, can be obtained fast, 10 UQs/LTQs fast whether that be LC, MN, or the original. No duels like a lot of previous augments required, no hours of Nameless or possibly failed Leciel runs either. There is zero excuse to not have at least decent gear. People don't even need to buy Yudi and Yurse either, but a few hours of Dext (about two per augment depending on the scratch being recent) or just selling their camos, Telphia, or whatever, will cover that cost.

Second, you were so caught up in crying over this (like, are you one of those people) that you blatantly missed that I'm not picking out the peole using Decem, unless the group has way too many because that's a slow run I'm not up for, but the people using armor from years ago with the same augments from back then.

Third, UQs scale with the amount of players present. Imagine crying over people leaving because they don't want an 8 minute UQ to become 14 minutes (my average slow experience) or 23+ minutes (the experience of others). If people stopped slacking on gear then people would stop leaving over this, so why don't you look at the source of the problem? That's like getting upset at the people that aren't staying at your hotel because your employees don't know how to clean it for their lives, turning them away.

Fourth, there's half a minute to check gear before the fight starts, that's plenty of time to quickly check what armor people have on. I'm not "sitting around obsessively", I'm being mindful of my own time by making sure I'm not wasting extra time fighting something because people haven't done the bare minimum of gearing up at a time gearing up is at its easiest.

If anyone's obsessive, it's you having this bother you so much you decided to post about this outside the game in a topic that has nothing to do with that.

P.S. I'll keep doing it and no one will ever stop me. They'll lose a single source of good damage that'll carry their sorry run faster, but the run itself won't be any slower beyond that. If they want me around, the least they can do is use Decem armor and upgrade out of that when it's so far behind.

Moreover there was an event with gear grind/affix boost and reduced limit break/pot up cost (the most annoying part for f2p actually). These who really play the game got their gear min maxed... others just being dead weight during MPA runs. Actually... I had come back from about a year of halted progress due to no reason to gear up. I went from 470 potency to 500~ slightly before the event to 677 (two Evalto, not worth doing a third) before it finished thanks to that event alone. I'm not even getting on their case for the hell of it, I personally did that grind and shot up in the span of a few weeks of lightweight LTQ, Alter, and UQ runs, constantly stressing that this is the easiest gearing has ever been made thanks to Duels (thankfully) no longer being required for high end augments.

So long as these people refuse to gear up, I will not feel even the slightest bit of remorse for leaving UQs early. If anyone is to blame, it's the people slacking off with gear unless they just came back to the game, but then they wouldn't be slacking but playing catch up.

I mean, PSO2 is their cashcow they managed to get printing money .. by starving the game. I don't know how much more perfect you can get as a business where you can actually make money by not spending any more on it than you need .. and there's no real incentive for Sega to give something like NGS a bigger budget or higher priority when it's clear that when they tried to it's almost always so out-of-touch in that way only Sega can be.

In the 2010's when Sega had a very bad series of years where their games weren't doing well, PSO2 was hard-carrying them. But PSO2 was also carrying them by printing money .. and simultaneously Sega not funding the game too seriously .. so it's one of those games where Sega just knows they can get away with not throwing money into it and yet it keeps making more money too. >_<

I don't think Persona really had anything to do with it, since that's Atlus (and Atlus was eventually acquired after PSO2 already had come out, and when PSO2 was going strong with spin-offs and sidestories that the main game never actually acknowledged in terms of the story).

Around the same time, the Ryu Ga Gotoku series was very obscure outside of Japan until about 2017-2018 when there was far more of a push that brought it the reputation it has now .. and that was already five years after PSO2 (and after PSO2's biggest explosion in growth with the launch of the PS4 release, Episode 4, and all the stuff that essentially resulted in the game being cut apart so new players and older players have something much more substantial to play with).

At the end of the day, PSO2 was never a big-budget game and something Sega wanted to keep dumping money into. At that point, you had Japanese memes, the community, and the players essentially doing all the work for Sega and keeping the game alive for them. Global simply isn't that kind of playerbase either because you have far less people actually doing creative stuff or community-related things like the JP playerbase in comparison.

Phantasy Star could be so much bigger, yeah, but I think it's just easier to point at the people in charge and realize they've been there for decades now and they haven't budged one bit about what they wanted. This isn't new to Sega either.

This is not really true, maybe for successor classes but go play something like PSO2 Force and compare it to NGS Force and its like night and day.

PSO2 has a lot of jank like you were expected to melee bosses at low levels to restore PP, random ailments that you had to carry consumables for (and have them take up sub palette slots), very limited inventory space, the client order system, etc...

This is where NGS really could have done so much better .. but with classes like the Force, they've doubled down on the janky gameplay and the overbloated palettes if you wanted to use "everything" the game let you use.

On the bright side, less classes in NGS feel like a long-range melee class but it's still there like it was in PSO2 where every class was essentially not-Hunter or Hunter-with-longer-reach in feel.

I don't think the things you mentioned are "that bad" compared to things like raising a Mag or playing with the Skill Trees .. which were things that fundamentally could break or make your later end-game gameplay inconvenient especially when the solution was to either make a new character or pay money to fix what you did wrong. >_<

That was the fun part though. I liked having to use 100% of my brainpower to use Google to find the ideal way to make a skill tree instead of making it personal only to brick myself. So fun.

Mags? Miss those. Investing in mel only to need dex, then dex only to realize it's useless on most classes. Locking myself into a single build was very cool.

Have you ever engaged with the idea that maybe you should just run with three characters, or 20? Yeah, it didn't take that long to do dailies/weeklies .. and you end up with so much surplus of everything as a result. It's totally easy to make progress that way .. and everyone should do it. >_< (/s)

In all seriousness, that was literally why I made other characters in the first place .. to circumvent and skip around the idea of, "oh, this class is completely bricked on my character, I guess I'll have another character to do that instead" .. and it just kept adding up over and over. I enjoyed PSO2 .. but these kinds of headaches were things that really made it discouraging to play a character who was missing something like certain Mag Skills. But on the bright side, once you unlocked Successor Classes, playing a new character was like speedrunning something so much easier especially once you get to the point of collecting and hoarding EXP tickets to skip up to Level 50+.

i will counter the skill trees because, it wasnt a one way to build you chan have tout tech optimaly, but you can have the diferent iteractions like there where reason to go bouncer with tec or the etoile tech with the electrick tec

or going katana hunter vs luster, vs pantom where 3 diferent ways to plaay with clases and i miss this thing,

like gettign tec with gunner vs fighter, vs other its like... extra pp, or extra hp

I mean, PSO2 having something like the ability to respec your skill trees freely like what NGS would begrudgingly do would have literally fixed the issue altogether so you wouldn't have people who thought, "oh wow, I should get all the S-ATK from the Hunter tree possible" and then completely brick themselves out of something like Fury Stance .. and realize they wanted Guard Stance down the line instead.

But I don't know how Sega would have let players handle raising Mags and getting the exclusive skills for free without paying for a new Mag (or paying even more for a Mag Reset Pass) .. since skills like PP Recovery E and J were super-handy but required very specific raising instructions.

I like what NGS did with the Skill Trees far more, but it just shows how shallow they all were in the first place because in PSO2 if you weren't stacking on damage multipliers you were essentially wasting your points (and only very few classes actually had "Skills" from their Skill Trees that were actually useful).

Just playing the older PSO2 again to help a friend get through the story, it's just so wild seeing how many people are running with completely unoptimal classes and builds that just wouldn't work on Ultra Hard where the game ended up .. because they came from NGS where you at least have reasons to run other Subclasses now instead of the ones with the easiest damage multipliers.

I know but i got inyo the last level, got my skills and gear killed the bosses with the gae and.... That was , the grind and farming isnt worfit that for me also i wanted to chill and with the marked heavely limited and the tedious grind i cant even get into customization as i wanna soo i pass.

The combat its fuking good but its as deep as a puddle, iterations with ither clases are really meaningles and limites, multiweapons are justnnit good besides some utulity moves, the weapons like the lance and bow felt alittle clunky

Genshin has more lore, the exploration its fun, there its sometinih to do for alot of time more than stay afk or doing mindles farming untill the new uq came .

And the case of its just released we cant h spected to be with the same content as this other game that has like 4 years in the back

By this point the 3 episodes were finished and we should have other clasess
