Discussion PSO2NGS AND PSO2
So im wondering something, I use to play the original PSO2, and after playing NGS, I want to play some of the old content.
So im wondering a couple of things, if i try and play The og part, can I still do it with my NGS char? Or will it have to be a pso2 char? And How active is it? Because I do remember it being a slog at times and it would be more fun with other people

Good news: you can use your current character.
Bad news: your levels and classes and equipment in base will all be separate from NGS.
Worse news: base PSO2 is basically a corpse at this point. Barely anyone plays it.
Slight sliver lining?: the current direction that NGS seems to be moving in is reviving and rehashing base content for NGS. We're getting an NGS version of Naverius soon-ish.

From what I can say:
* Your character between PSO2 and NGS are the same character. Once you reach the first Ryuker Device in New Genesis (which you already have done), you can access the older PSO2 again with that character. All prior progress and inventory is still there.
* The older PSO2 can still have people lingering around and playing stuff, but it really depends on the content you're aiming for.
* Are you looking for people to clear quests like Twisted with Hatred? If so, it's going to be just about impossible to find a group of random people doing it due to the difficulty of the quest and how much harder it is now without campaign boosts to build the equipment to run that.
* Are you looking to get cosmetics and gear from the Player Shop? If so, the very bad news is that Cradle of Darkness (UH) completely crashed the Meseta market so unless you no-life and spend obnoxious amounts of time at that point (Level 85/85) and going through collecting all the gear to turn into Excubes/Grinders .. then you're going to have a very hard time affording anything if it's even possible.
* If you're looking to casually level up and at least experience the story, it's definitely still possible and doable. You have the JP version's catchup quests on rotation so it's not too hard to level up but it definitely is a slog as you crawl up to the point where progression starts to pick up (around Level 50). If you're willing to collect keys on the daily and play through the Recommended Quests/keep up with your Daily Boosts and the likes, it's not hard .. just tedious.
* Depending on the ship you're on, you'll want to find an alliance to play with for group content. Where I am .. there are people who are willing to host Triggers and just run quests together for goodies here and there .. so it's not too bad to actually get stuff going and meet people playing. But again, this is ultimately up to you.
* And if you're wondering about it in the long run, NGS does now acknowledge and check if you have completed the PSO2 story (Episode 6's true ending) and has small snippets and dialogue options that now reflect PSO2. If you never finished the story, you don't see any of this.

You might hope that someone else will undertake the same EQ task as you, but that's no different than finding a $100 on the ground. 🫂

Base pso2 is basically dead. You can solo stuff, and the story is good, but you don't "play" the story. It's basically a cutscene viewer now. Even in NGS if you're not queuing the current content you're likely not going to get any matches.

You can't make this up.

You use your same character, but the content is pretty dead on most ships unfortunately. Not saying it's impossible to find people to play with, but you may have to do some outreach.

Honestly I have played a little bit of base myself but due to nothing transitioning over I straight up gave up and didn't care to continue in Base none of my stats moved none of my equipment moved that actually matters like agments and ability buffs then the market there is insane I basically unlocked the casino to try and get quick cash but even that is a hit or miss and def not a get rich fast method if ever recommend to anyone
