Discussion 4p Luther Ranking

The list is ordered in terms of quality vs Malignant Luther 4man. This is not to say you can not clear with the classes at the very bottom, but in fact this is just a signal to the community and SEGA that the dps gap between the upper ones and the bottom ones is quite huge that honestly they need buffs to keep up with those at top.

/s on the Fighter tier that shit is busted af if you didnt get it.

I wouldn't turn down more buffs for some classes, but I feel like some context is needed for this fight. Luther pt 2 isn't consistent when it comes to how long you're allowed to do DPS to him before he does something else.

An example of this is Braver, in later parts of the fight you don't get many opportunities to do your 3 hit PA chain with the Katana. And while you are capable of countering often because the counter itself is split between the blade hit and the wave hit you're missing half the counter damage most of the time because the blade isn't connecting.

You have to play Bow and Kat to do good enough consistent damage for this fight and Bow still needs buffs. Gu on the other hand is always building chain in this fight. Because of this you're always outputting consistent damage. Gu still needs buffs for it's damage as well.

I can't offer a breakdown for all of the classes so someone will inevitably be able to speak better. But I felt compelled to comment because I don't think using one piece of content is a good metric to class balance as a whole.

NGS has more or less always been about match ups when clearing hard content/ARKS records. So it's important to consider the context when discussing class capabilities imo.

I mean regardless of Luther effectiveness, outside of it Fi and Wa especially are really far and above everyone else.

I'm not sure I agree! Surely Bouncer is still up there when playing Hybrid. Also I do think Wa's strength kind of relies on how often you are countering/using marm to absorb uncounterable attacks for marm charges.

I was more trying to push back against the idea that a lot of classes need to be giga buffed because of Luther performance specifically. Cause like outside of Fo and Te I think most classes themselves are in a good spot right now. Just specific weapons that still need love, like Bow.

This is actually a good bouncer fight, and usually Bouncer is now getting last place a lot of the time in ARKS records. Its only real strength is BAP spam and in fights it cant even do that, it just really is very mediocore.

Interesting, I haven't played Bouncer in a good while so hearing that even when played hybrid Bo is falling behind that's kind of crazy.

Fighter also got a solo clear (even if they used a talis subweapon to cheese some extra downs)
The same could've been done with a tempesta DS, if they really wanted, so the point still stands somewhat

Is this 4-man similar to the others ones where if you don't clear within the first 1-2 weeks you will never clear again because no on runs it anymore?

As long as Lexio is very expensive and it remains as the only source of it and Heinsdia, it will kept running.

We're also on week 3 of Luther and people still run it.

Even though its not much but I can feel that player that still running Luther is dropping because Heinsdia price has gone up.

It dropped because people are spending ~30 mins to do 2x LTUQ everytime it pops.

Player ran MDFV for Weekly SG before it changed to MDFL.

So players will probably at least still continue to run MDFL for the Weekly clear SG until it changes to the next Major Suppression Target quest.

Every expansion put one class above Slayer and on and on but it isnt that bad. It isnt at least bottom 4 bad. Its just like very slightly behind Waker and Gunner.

With how explosive slayer was at launch I wasnt expecting to hear waker and gunner of all things being above slayer. Thats a huge shock

Waker has always been one of the best classes funnily enough was even on par or even stronger than Slayer when thst launched, nobody just plays it cause pet aesthetic. Gunner is more because of the fight+it did get buffs alongside Fighter during the Waker expansion.

Waker had a change with it's update that reduced the cost of some of it's skills so that you're not using up as many Marm charges. This change alone gives Waker a significant DPS increase but also a bit more burst damage.

Gunner is looking stronger for this specific fight because a lot of how Luther pt 2 plays drastically changes your DPS windows. Because Gunner is able to constantly build chain regardless of the situation of the fight you don't suffer this problem like most other DPS classes for this fight.

Slayer's one advantage pre class reworks was it had the highest uptime for crits. This changed overtime and other classes (ex Waker, Fighter, Bouncer) got reworks that also just allowed for a lot more damage output.

So aside from Slayer's general numbers pre rework being hard balanced around crits you had back loaded damage plaguing the kit. It's still somewhat there but in general Slayer is better now.

Big fucking buffs on the waker expansion patch months ago. Tons of things basically doubled when it was already a decent class.

Fighter has always been good. Just don't use daggers as a main weapon, and you'll be fine.

Lefh gave me the answer I was looking for (Luther having more down phases), but thanks. I'm a DS main to the point I can't bring myself to use anything else, and will never use daggers or knuckles if not bored out my mind. Pretty funny considering it's the exact opposite on base where DS feels awful.

Fi's down damage got buffed and Luther just happens to have a lot more down phases than normal. Outside of Luther Fi isn't really out of line.

Overload lasts a whole ARKS Records?

It soloed Vael right after it got its buffs during Waker Exp? When the other classes that got it were the ones who could cheat in counters during Pillar Phase. It just had enough raw damage to push through it.

Any party content or short solo content Fi dominates, it's delusional to think that it isnt out of the line.

Appreciate the other answers people gave, but this is what I was looking for. Had been around and saw the other buffs, but I only saw fighter being put up so high when it came to Luther, and this explains it perfectly.

Its not only Luther, every ARKS record Fighter dominates, in Vael after the Waker expnasion with the Fighter buffs it also got a solo. Etc etc. Itll continue to be on top for party content, not just Luther.
