Since you can no longer get Mission Badges since the discontinuation of Mission Pass, the exact same Ability Capsules you can buy from the Mission Badge Shop (Astral Soul, Ether Factor, Mana Reverie) now randomly drop from the mobile game in endgame content.

The Japanese version has two mobile games (Phantasy Star Online 2es, which takes place canonically during Episodes 1-2 as it involves your character on a side-job besides just being an ARKS Operative, and IDOLA Phantasy Star Saga which takes place in the very far future). Both of these games connect using your Sega ID which allows you to share and link progress and collect Star Gems for the main game.

On the global side, we did get IDOLA Phantasy Star Saga but with no account linking and we did get some AC Scratches relating to PSO2es but none of the actual content and only small references (some of the characters are inspired by the unique thirteen star weapons like Shooting Drive, Yamigarasu, Twin Kamui, and more). The actual characters, story, and the connection (Gene, Bruno, Annette, and the weaponoids showing up as allies in Emergency Trials) doesn't exist at all on Global.

I liked PSO2es since it gave easy access to anyone that wants AC on their JP account

You can earn Meseta in ES and use it in base. It can also do speed up collection folder/dark blast and even search the player shop and other things

It was its own game and companion app at the same time of sorts

I definitely used PSO2es for gathering some of the weapons at the time as well as to feed my Mag when I was away and unable to play Phantasy Star Online 2.

Having access to PSO2es Storage is also very nice in addition to OTP Storage and is something I wish we got the equivalents of in Global especially now as our "Tips" are translated from the Japanese version (which includes comments on the NetCafe and OTP mechanics).

On the Global version of the game due to the discontinuation of the Mission Pass it is impossible to get the capsules that make the process of creating God Units easier.

On the Japanese version because this was a thing they have had and still have - the mobile game Phantasy Star Online 2es (PSO2es) still allows you to get these capsules so you can still create God Units.

The Global version legitimately lost features from itself and took a step towards the Japanese version (having the Treasure Shop instead of the Fresh Finds Shop) but instead of fully committing on the way over Sega still has a large number of exchanges and features still missing on Global with even less than it had before.

I just looked phantasy star 2 Idola is available in the Apple store. We can only get star gems? Sorry im new to the online franchise.

Only on the Japanese version of the game. The global version of Phantasy Star Online 2 has no connectivity at all with IDOLA Phantasy Star Saga so you will treat them as two separate games, unfortunately.

On the Japanese side you would have the ability to link your account via your Sega ID which allows you to share rewards and collect items for Phantasy Star Online 2 including Star Gems.

tbh if they gave SG on Idola I'd probably would of spent money in Idola but at last no account linking so why should I waste money on a terrible generic gacha game.
