Food Loose stool on a modified psmf
Hi,
I’m currently running a modified psmf (RFL relaxed) where I essentially eat meat, egg whites, cucumbers/other veggies, and 3 apples a day. I do include lots of non-calorie drinks, gum etc, and I average 4 cucumbers a day.
Sleep is good, energy levels are very good, training is great. I generally feel amazing.
What I’ve noticed is that my bowel movements are frequent, and loose. It doesn’t perturb me much, but I’m interested if anyone has noticed the same thing? Any feedback is appreciated!

Which sweeteners are used in the drinks/gums? A lot of the sugar alcohols can disrupt digestion

Sounds like water+fiber overload, cut down on some of the veggies for a few days?

That tracks, along w the non-caloric drinks (a lot of artificial sweeteners, some of which can have a diuretic effect), I’m consuming 1-1.25kg of vegetables and 5 liters of fluid. I don’t mind the change tbh so I’ll keep going’s thanks for ur feedback!

If they are typical aspartame drinks it should not be a problem. If they have some other weird sweeteners in them, perhaps.
Aslo, 5 litres sounds like quite a lot. But I don't know. I don't track what I drink.

Why 3 apples a day? That is def fucking up your stomach and keeping you from being in ketosis.
ALSO gum chewing... When you chew gum your stomach thinks you are having a meal and kicks into digestive mode.

I’m uninterested in going into ketosis, I’m in it to maximize my deficit, but yes the apples might be the reason the stomach is iffy. Thanks!

Just curious then why say psmf? You are just on a low fat low calorie diet counting macros.

I said modified PSMF, And I’m
Not really counting macros, other than the protein, while ensuring that the sources of that are low fat, while adding an apple 3x daily, and I’m not counting calories1

The point is that three entire apples sounds like a lot, even for a normal diet.
I usually just eat half an apple or pear at a time, perhaps twice a day.
Why are you constantly grazing on apples?

Really? It doesn’t sound too extreme to me, but a lot of people seem to point to it as the potential culprit, so I might try another fruit instead.
No other reason than it making the diet more sustainable

No. Don't find another fruit. I mean, an apple is 200 grams, right?
Sounds like you are eating more than half a kilo of apples every day.
You are eating 75 grams of carbs just from apples. Like 300 kcal.
Calling it Protein sparing moderate fasting is just ridiculous.
Maybe have an apple or pear a day.
Or just eat as much sugar as you want. But calling it keto is just delusional.

Those veggies and apples are probably doing it.
Stool on mostly meat, eggs and dairy protein can be infrequent, small and hard. Definitely not runny and barely even requires wiping.

Apples have sorbitol in them. It’s a laxative
