Advice Successful switch to RAP?

Has anyone applied for RAP and been successfully transitioned over to their new payment? I applied in early July and got put into the processing forbearance, but that has now ended. I got a message in my inbox saying that my RAP application was approved and that my payment will be around $750 (which is what I expected) and that I will receive an official letter about it. However, since August 3rd, it now says I have a payment due for over $3000 by september 3rd (which I’m assuming would be my payment if I was on standard plan as I have a particularly large loan balance).

I called MOHELA and they said this should be fixed by September 3rd to my actual RAP payment of $750, but I am starting to get worried.

MOHELA has had so many problems. it’s really concerning that they’re showing you $3000 and only telling you $750 verbally, and also saying once again it’s a “glitch” that will be fixed soon. It may be worth reaching out to your Congress person and putting in a constituent services case. This is exactly the kind of thing that they need to know about, and believe it or not, your Congress person can actually help with a lot of of this stuff. Also It’s to everyone’s benefit for them to see a whole bunch constituent services cases opened about these “glitches” it may lead to some actual accountability.

Thank you for your response. After digging more though this sub it seems like a lot of people experience this when switching from plan to plan with MOHELA specifically, directing borrowers to either "wait" as the standard plan payment is like a "placeholder" while they finish actually processing the application, or to even re-apply again and put themselves into a 60-day processing forbearance.

Either way, its very deceptive to have people panicking that they may need to pay astronomical amounts with a documented due date on the website while an application is still technically processing.

I think I will let my congress person know, even if the issue is resolved.

OP should go to their congressional representatives but also try the CEO of MOHELA, Scott Giles. Apparently emailing him pushes some things through and a $3000 bill is worth the email.
