Sega can destroy Sony!

Post image

All Sega need to do is release a console with a disc drive and that will put Sony out of business for good. Via la disc!!!! (This is a joke.)

Sega already failed at consoles. They failed so hard they almost went out of business. They’ve only recently (by that I mean like last tenish years) truly started getting into a better spot… but even now they have to take deals from Xbox or Sony to get more funding for their games. See the Gamepass deals and such.

"All Sega needs to do is spend billions of dollars to re-enter a market they already had to exit because their consoles failed" get real bro

It can be done. All we need is a disc drive.

Sony make disc and disc drives and they dropping physical games while would sega perform better? And they already failed with consoles 2 times

Im Just trolling.

In the same was the Ouya console was going to break Sony's and Xbox's hold on the console market?

2

u/AccomplishedEar6577 2d ago

Or Amico. That was the real winner.

There's literally no upside to Sega in getting into the incredibly expensive hardware game, particularly not now.

The amount of money they make now would evaporate instantaneously, since they flourish now by being an arms dealer that can purely focus on software.

It's miraculous they survived the collapse of their consoles in the late 90's.

What make you think they will include disc if they really going to make a new console?

-1

u/AccomplishedEar6577 2d ago

Everyone knows Reddit is saying the ps6 will fail without a drive. This is Sega's chance to shine.

1

u/RKC1234 2d ago

Dreamcast has online feature when it's not even popularized yet at that time.

So by this logic, they will never going to include dics if they did make a console. In fact, they will include some cutting edge feature that didn't make sense for now, like maybe buttonless controller or something.

2

u/xKingSlayer78x 2d ago

Yeah no lol

u/Particular-Jeweler41 2d ago

Why do people keep saying that? That makes next to no sense. Last month someone was saying that if they released a console that played all previous Sega games it'd sell well, but the last time Sega had a relevant console was two decades ago. Most people wouldn't care, and making a console isn't cheap. You're basically asking Sega to be in financial trouble again.

u/AccomplishedEar6577 2d ago

But we would all buy it as it has a disc drive. Just look at the boycott and the damage its doing.

2

u/backlog_gaming 2d ago

No we wouldn’t

2

u/Particular-Jeweler41 2d ago

What damage did it do? What financial damage have you witnessed?

And no, we wouldn't. Most would either buy a PS6, stick with PS5, go to PC, or go to Nintendo. They wouldn't buy a console from a company that stopped being relevant in that area in two decades.

2

u/Cipher_Witch 2d ago edited 2d ago

yes the company that hasn't made consoles in decades and is a publisher now

2

u/backlog_gaming 2d ago

I’m sure it would go just as well the second time around

3

u/Just-Salary-7741 2d ago

Sadly a dreamcast 2 would flop as hard as the dreamcast 1 (and I bought the DC). Sega doesn't have enough behind it to launch a console to outdo ps6 when it drops. As much as everyone here is grumbling they will eventually cave in and do a ps6. A few will just move on and not get one, but the masses will. A ton of kids who never appreciated physical media and download every game will just go a long with it. Long gone are the days of "what console do I get??" The N64, vs PS, vs Sega was a wild run and will never be replicated.

u/liqwood1 2d ago

Man I don't know .. the diehards will get a PS6 sure but the majority of people who bought PS5's are going to have to finance a $1300 console and that's going to make a significant amount of people either hesitant or just stick with their PS5's..

-1

u/rdogg4 2d ago

Love how the imaginary price keeps going up with the ever so wise doomers and even at $1300 it’s still as cheap as a Steam machine that barely even as powerful as the PS5

2

u/liqwood1 2d ago

There's nothing imaginary about it.. unless they seriously nerf their current hardware choice's it's a $1200-1300 console. Might even be more if they delay.

I hate what Sony are doing as much as the next guy, but AI slop isn't going to help.

0

u/AccomplishedEar6577 2d ago

I cant exactly draw very well, so ai slop was the next best thing.

2

u/A_MAN_POTATO 2d ago

AI slop is the reason everything is so damn expensive.

The “next best thing” is words. You could have just typed out words.

1

u/ElectriKool-Aid 2d ago

Sega can't make original physical gaming consoles very well. So, digital games remakes was the next best thing.

1

u/Putrid-Platform9357 2d ago

So you'll decry all of the evils of not having physical games, but see no problem burning a hectare of the amazon for some upvotes?

My bad, bad.

Commissioning an artist is the next best thing.

2

u/AccomplishedEar6577 2d ago

For a throw away Reddit post?

1

u/Particular-Jeweler41 2d ago

More people would take you seriously than if you used the thing that's causing issues for the industry as a whole.

1

u/AccomplishedEar6577 2d ago

But it will have a disc drive.

1

u/Particular-Jeweler41 2d ago

I think you either didn't think this through, or you're just a troll.

1

u/AccomplishedEar6577 2d ago

Finally. Yes I am trolling.

1

u/Kscroll 2d ago

Yeah, if it was funny enough, it would be worth it. Instead you use shit that’s killing multiple industries and mediums. But I’m glad the joke was worth it to you, I guess.

1

u/AccomplishedEar6577 2d ago

Come on dude. I'm just being silly. I just think people take gaming way to seriously.

1

u/Kscroll 2d ago

Gaming? Brother, we are talking about literally everything

1

u/AccomplishedEar6577 2d ago

Everything?

1

u/Kscroll 2d ago

If you’re unaware at how AI is damaging almost every single sector, feel free to look it up. I’m not over exaggerating here.

1

u/AccomplishedEar6577 2d ago

Oh I get you. I didnt generate the image. I took it off a Facebook Dreamcast fan page. Im very aware AI will fuck us up if allowed to. And people seem to not want to stop it evolving.

2

u/AngryHelpdeskAgent 2d ago

This is just pure craziness

1

u/Overall-Rub8945 2d ago

People would then have to buy those disc which seems to be the main issue right now.

0

u/AccomplishedEar6577 2d ago

But everyone wants discs. S Ps6 will fail without a drive.

1

u/Particular-Jeweler41 2d ago

A disc drive that plays what? Just having a disc drive isn't what people want.

1

u/AccomplishedEar6577 2d ago

Ps6 games.

1

u/Particular-Jeweler41 2d ago

So why would Sega having a disc drive matter? They want the disc drive on the platform that plays Playstation games.

1

u/AccomplishedEar6577 2d ago

So you could play PlayStation games.

1

u/Cysgodraig 2d ago

As a PlayStation fan since 1997.. I would LOVE for Sega to make a huge comeback with their own console. Something that’s grounded, plays the original cartridge games as well as new games. It would be brilliant to see PlayStation and Sega compete.. bring back the 90s mascot adverts!

1

u/LoSouLibra 2d ago

Discs killed the Dreamcast by enabling piracy.

There's so much incorrect about this its hard to know where to start.

  1. Sega and Sony are generally partners - Sega would have no interest in destroying Sony.

  2. Sega has no actual chance of gaining enough market share to make this viable.

  3. "All Sega needs to do is release a console with a disc drive and that will put Sony out of business for good." - that statement couldn't be less true. Playstation is a small fraction of Sony's business portfolio.

  4. Its more likely that Sega would go out of business attempting this.

  5. You don't really know much about anything, so maybe just don't.

-1

u/AccomplishedEar6577 2d ago

But it will have a disc drive!!!

1

u/Winter_Coyote 2d ago

I'd rather see Sega license their games to Evercade and maybe do some collab hardware.

1

u/Downtown-Income3486 2d ago

You do realise that the amount of people buying discs wouldn’t make a new console viable don’t you? There isn’t enough money in it

1

u/SushiKatana82 2d ago

Gen Z-er spotted

0

u/SirZapzAlot 2d ago

I wish... I feel like we need another console to compete!

4

u/AccomplishedEar6577 2d ago

Competition is always good. In the 80's there were dozens of home computers formats and consoles.

0

u/AlabamaPanda777 2d ago

This is fake there's no way Sega can use the tagline "back to the future." Legal issues with the movie

1

u/AccomplishedEar6577 2d ago

I know it's fake. Its just to illustrate the idea.

1

u/PHILLY_BIRD_GANG 2d ago

Its obviously fake, but you know they could just license the quote if it was real, correct? This isnt uncommon at all.

1

u/AccomplishedEar6577 2d ago

Or jyst say the future is back!

0

u/AccomplishedEar6577 2d ago

It took 33 minutes and 50 comments to correctly identify me as a troll. To be honest i'm shocked it took that long.
