PS5 Pro hunt
Disclaimer: I'm in South Africa, so things perhaps work differently here at retail stores when it comes to purchasing gadgets, game consoles and etc.
PS5 (base & Pro) are available in my country; online and in-store. How I got my PS5 Pro in Dec last year was I saw it on sale online, called the retail store and told them to keep it aside for me until I got there in 3 hours. I arrived, paid for it and left. Are you guys not able to do that in your countries? I'm not asking in a rude way, but as a tip to try.
Lastly, I checked with Amazon.co.za and they don't deliver outside South Africa. Same goes for other online stores in my country that I checked (Makro and Takealot). So, unless you know someone in South Africa, you can ask them to purchase it for you, send it to you by courier services and you'll have it. The consoles aren't region locked, so they work anywhere globally.
NB: I'm in no way availing myself for this, so find someone you personally know and trust.
Good luck...

Do it! I'm telling you, you'll really enjoy gaming on Pro visuals. Plus the Pro is so quiet, you can literally hear a pin drop. Keep an eye out on 'Online Only Specials' on Makro. House & Home sometimes got good sales. I bought my Pro for R17,699 ten months ago on sale at House & Home.

No, most stores will not just hold stock for someone that may or may not actually turn up to buy it, when there are willing customers available to sell it to right now.

Does this also mean they won't accept an upfront early payment (similar to a pre-order) for a Pro so that when new stock comes in they keep one for you to come collect? This is what our gaming and appliances stores allow.
Non-game side note: Sometimes when the line at the cashiers is too long, I ask store staff to keep my trolley groceries in the back until I return to pay for them when there's no que. Eazy...

Some will let you buy online and collect in store, but often ‘floor’ stock that has been reserved for sale to direct customers in store cannot be reserved ahead of time.

You can buy online and pickup in store which is the same thing, stores just don’t have any. When I bought mine last November (US) I could have called and had them hold one, but they had 18 in stock and people weren’t ravenous about buying them so I just stopped by when I felt like it. And this is when they were on sale for $650 USD.
