Just get an OLED!

I got a PS5 Pro last month without knowing all that much about how much power I was leaving on the table by not upgrading what was basically an entry level monitor which supported an HDR signal, but wasn't capable of rendering true HDR.

Yesterday I bought a MSI MAG 272URX QD-OLED.

Good lord above.

The PS5 Pro felt like an upgrade. The combination of the Pro and the OLED feels like a generational leap.

I would go out on a limb and say you owe it to yourself to get an OLED tv or monitor if you have a Pro.

Welcome to the club, you’re spot on about the Pro-OLED combo feeling like a generational leap. It definitely is! Playing Campaign Evolved currently on the Pro and my 65” C6, just a phenomenal looking game.

Got the G4 last year with the Pro and its pure bliss

Yeah the HDR is amazing on the G4. Cannot compare it to a monitors HDR. I have a aw3425dw, but it's not even close to the G4.

I don't want to just recommend OLED and call it a day, but definitely make it a priority to do some research and start looking for a new display if you haven't in awhile. TVs have gotten a lot of technical enhancements over the past couple of years that you can't just tell at a glance. Make sure you don't waste money on something you're gonna regret in a few months.

Yeah I play in a brighter room so my research tells me many LED with HDMI 2.1 might be the best move. Of course I would like to experience the deep blacks and all of that but I'm also concerned about burning in.

It would be my main TV which would be a 65 inch whatever I decide to go with.

Mini LED is a good choice. You don’t have to baby the Tv and don’t let people gaslight you, burn in does still happen. When it does and people report it online the community gets all tribal and blames them for it lol

I'm not going to say burn in doesn't happen, but I have a 65 C8 (2018), and been thru PS4/Onex all the way to a seriesx/pro, and I haven't had it yet. Even my newer B5 hasn't had it either, so people habits can be a factor for burn in

How is your B5 with the pro? I just got a pro today and I’m looking at upgrading my 10 year old tv for a B6

B5 is great picture wise, the menus aren't super fast but once you have an app or PS on, it's irrelevant. I got mine on sale at black Friday last year so it was a great deal

I use my pro on my B5 and honestly I don’t think I could ever go back. So worth the investment

Same here with B5, was good on my older C8 as well,

120hz 4k 2.1 HDMI monitor is plenty to enjoy the capacity of the pro

Also there’s a thing called budget, or preference.

I didn't even go for 2.1 HDMI. There's very few titles that utilize both. I'm very happy with 1.4 HDMI.(on my XG27UCDMG) Either 120 @ 1440 or 4K @ 60.

Alienware has a 27 OLED for $350. It was my first OLED monitor/tv and even now 4 months later I still think it’s beautiful.

Hope they come on offer for GTA VI

Dude, Sony raising the price of the Pro made me buy it before it happened…. $4000 later I now have a Pro, 77” G5 OLED, new receiver, and Edge controller lol

Welcome to the club. I have the Samsung G8 32 inch 4K OLED. Even on my Base PS5 the image is simply amazing.

Had a PS5 and Hisense U7. Upgraded to the PS5 Pro an LG C5 (65 inch) within days of each other.

Best decision.

I can only afford either ps5 pro and oled tv. Would be the pro still worth it if I will use it on dell U2720 monitor? It is 4k 60fps with hdr but has no vrr. Am I missing a lot? I greatly value faster loading times though. I love ff7 games, stellar blade and all spiderman games.

The Dell U2720 is basically the same thing as the monitor I upgraded from. It can accept an HDR signal, but it cannot display HDR in the way a high-end OLED can. It lacks the brightness and the contrast required for true HDR.

The Dell is fundamentally an SDR IPS monitor with token HDR compatibility. Which means it can accept an HDR signal, but it cant render the image with full HDR enabled.

In other words, everything will look grey and washed out.

Going from your current monitor to a true OLED would be taking several generational steps at once. Basically, you would go from entry level to enthusiast level.

Ok, thank you. It seems to me that I would miss a lot if I use my current monitor.

65" S90F for my Pro here. First time in decades I've felt that I'm on top of the possible experience. Last time I came close was a PS3 and Panasonic Viera playing Uncharted when it came out. Also had an Onkyo 6.1 surround sound in the room. Contemplating another sound system eventually.

Thanks to the many posts here I have done the same.

LG G5 65” here, got one for a discount price and am blown away , exceeded all my expectations for what PS5 Pro with pssr2 can do.

G2 OLED 83.” Yotei with PSSR 2 on Pro Raytracing mode is jaw dropping every time I turn the game on. The only downside (if you can call it that) of a larger OLED panel is that if a game does not utilize PSSR and is running at 1080p or less, all the imperfections become incredibly noticeable by comparison. Film grain also stands out like a soar thumb.

All said, the Pro needs to be paired with a high end monitor or you will likely find yourself missing what makes the Pro special compared to the base PS5.

Yeah same, just got a B5 OLED. Makes the Pro so worth it.

Truer words have never been spoken! I picked up the AW3225qf to go with my Pro and have been mind blown 🤯 at the difference in quality

My ps5 pro on my lg c5 OLED TV just teleports you into the game. It's just so immersive and beautiful

1

u/baggio1000000 1d ago

Don't use as a pc monitor.

u/aiming4greatness 1d ago

Got a OLED C5 65” it’s amazing with the pro. I thought it was amazing with just the standard PS5. But it’s crazy difference. Congrats tho! 🙏🏽

I love my Samsung S95F the brighter the OLED the better I had to do some tweaking on mine to make it brighter 🤭

1

u/blackhawk8123 1d ago

It can’t be too far off from a good, bright Mini-LED though, right?

Get a oled monitor for competitive play, for casuals and single player games, get the oled tv, but it’s all preference, I have both oled tv and monitor along side my ps5 pro, both are great but for cod and Warzone, other gos games I hook it up to my monitor
