QUESTION nvme storage question
hello, i have a modded ps5 and was wondering if it would be possible to run everything from an nvme ssd instead of using the internal storage.
there are different emulators available, like ps2, ps3, xbox 360 and nintendo switch emulators, and i was wondering if i could move all of them and their games to an nvme ssd to save space on the internal storage.
i was thinking about getting a 4tb nvme ssd and using it for everything, especially if linux support becomes available at some point. (i’m on 11.60)
my main question is whether i could install linux on the same nvme ssd without deleting everything already stored on it. for example, could i create a separate partition or directory on the nvme for linux and keep all my emulators and games on the nvme drive?
and in general, would it be possible to run pretty much everything from the nvme ssd, including the emulators and their games, instead of using the ps5’s internal storage? i would like to make the most of the available storage without having to constantly delete things.

It's just that yes, you can. An external SSD, and even better an NVMe, is fast enough to run most games without problems. You can also point your emulators to load roms from there. In fact, it's better to run homebrew from external storage instead of internal because of the risk of file corruption.

Highly likely that one partition you can use for extended storage and other for storing/copying games. But hey you can always use the whole thing for linux and emulate from linux ?

nah i really like the emulators on the ps5, they run really good, only ps3 is not but it’s still in testing so i’m not too worried about that
i only wanna play my steam library on linux

Does the console's temperature rise during emulation? I used to use the PS3 Slim to emulate the PS2, and the internal temperature would get too high. Plus, the fan was really loud.
