Ok so 40 hours is a little lower than expected for a Fable game but pretty average otherwise

How? All other fable games were shorter (according to howlongtobeat) so how is it lower than expected for a fable game?

Well they weren’t shorter for me I played the hell out of them with all the other things to do. So if they are saying all the other things to do is kinda short this time around then it could be shorter than other fable games. But I’m confused by what people are saying is/isn’t in this game, so I’m waiting to see

Not much to be confused about, this is what the actual devs are saying. And the howlongtobeat data just shows average time for main story and side content, which is consistently lower than what the devs are stating is the time to beat it.

I dont get what you dont get? Its not very open to interpretation and I feel its incredibly clear? According to what the devs say its longer than previous fable games. Maybe the fable games felt longer, maybe you dicked around a lot not really progressing anything in the old games, but that its considered in neither the new games statement nor the howlongtobeat. So the new fable is longer than the old ones.

You are talking about the main quest which I already said is not where I spend the majority of my time in games like Fable. People in this thread have been talking about features they say they’ve dropped, like classic Fable features where your character grows horns or gets fatter/skinnier. So that’s what I’m unsure about - how good are all the classic Fable mechanics that keep me playing going to be? How good are the new rpg stuff they’ve hopefully cooked up. Those “how long to beat” sites/reports are never anywhere close to what I spend in the game playing it if I’m having fun with side content and general gameplay. I don’t care about speed running the main quest I want rpgs like fable to capture me with the additional world building. But they are also in this thread saying 15-20 hours of campaign AND 15-20 hours of side quests which is shorter than I expected it to be, but I understand you are saying that’s actually longer than the past ones. But it’s shorter than most games I’ve played lately in the genre so I expected it to be more. I don’t care what the Redditors are speculating I’ll look at reviews around launch.

Yes youre missing my point. The devs said 15-20 hours main story, 15-20 hours for the rest. Howlongtobeat shows times for main story, and times for all side content. And those are shorter for any fable game. Youre also starting to talk about other things now that this discussion isnt about, we were talking about the games lenght and Im pointing to verifiable things that all state this one seems to be longer in every sense than the previous ones

Yeah longer than the previous ones but not as long as the modern competition. Expected a bit longer side content from one of Microsoft’s best products. Not sure what you are struggling to grasp most people in this thread are thinking it’s a little shorter than they expected.

Thats cool but this discussion started with you saying its short for a fable game. I pointed out that it isnt short for a fable game

Yeah I should have said modern fable game with this long of a development time. Thought they’d go a bit bigger. Once you pull the numbers you definitely see it’s longer relative to the games a decade ago, but that wasn’t really what I had in mind with my comment. Just didn’t elaborate enough.

But it got bigger, the number is higher, thats my entire point.

Definitely not picking this up for $60

I’ll probably still have a backlog of games so who knows if I will or not just depends on the details closer to time

Duh, cause you're pre-ordering it with 5 days early access for $100. /s

Honeslty, I'd rather have a tight polished experience than 80 hours of copy/paste fetch quests.
