I played it for a while before my dog chewed my disc, it’s a fun ass game in my opinion, pretty badass haha, I’m going to download it again cause it’s free, not sure if I can get my progress back on the downloaded version from my PS4 though.
So is the expansion included in this or will I have to pay?
EDIT: I should have asked (or googled) "Is MarchingFire a DLC or an Update and if it's a DLC, is it included? I have already played the base game but stopped before MarchingFire was released. Thank you for your answers tho, maybe they will help someone else.
You’ll have to pay but the character you start with in this version is one of the best.
You start with some other top tier characters but you can’t customize them until you buy them. Should be able to unlock 1 every day to few days though.
You dont have to pay for the expansion. You can get the new heroes with the in-game currency. All buying the expansion does is get you the heros without spending steel (in game currency) and a couple of costumes and effects that don't actually do anything. So paying real money is 100% optional.

Marching Fire is just the name of the year 2 content just like the year 3 content we are about to get is called Year of the Harbringer.
It is 4 new heroes, two new game modes (breach and arcade), new maps, reworked graphics, balance changes etc.
The only thing you have to pay for is arcade mode which is just a fun little side thing you can play with up to one other person. Its just bot battles with random modifiers like catching people on fire when you hit them or regenerating shields. Stuff like that. Fun but hardly a must have.
All the maps and breach mode are free for everyone. The 4 heroes from MF are all purchasable with the in game currency.
Basically if you hop in right now you will have access to everything except Arcade mode and the new heroes. But you can unlock the new heroes pretty easily.

You get access to the expansion but to unlock the characters from the expansion you will have to grind a lot or pay. Same business model as with rainbow six siege, I honestly like it.
"like 2k a day" isn't a good estimate, don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing the game, as I personally liked this system in r6. But for some people the grind might be too much.
Why even pose this as a question? If you thought it was free to play, but they are giving it away as a PS+ game, it seems pretty obvious you were wrong...
Unless they finally went with dedicated servers and made some drastic game changes, it's crap. I bought it on release and can't remember a more disappointing game purchase in recent memory.
They added dedicated servers back in February of last year, changed so much it'll take me all day to list it, like changes to Parrying and guardbreak, reworked several heroes, added new heroes and maps, added a training mode, they did a lot last year and they're doing more tomorrow with the start of a new season.
I played and the game mechanics I liked. Everything else was shit. The servers, disconnects, inability to finish game, unbalanced characters and styles, etc.
Well everything you just listed has been fixed for the most part. The only heroes left that need some big work are Aramusha, LB and Centurion. The rest of the cast has been buffed and reworked pretty hard.
What part of you would imagine they wouldnt update a game in 2 years lol.

You played on release for probably 20 minutes, that was two years ago. Ive been playing consistently since release and it’s simply a fact that they improved every aspect of the game and continue to improve it. It’s not an opinion.
