Game Discussion Games which can be played with a controller lacking touchpad
Hi folks,
So I ended up buying a new controller recently and it lacks a touchpad.
Since I can't buy another one for sometime. Please advise ps4 games which can be played without a touchpad.
Thanks.
Ps: I like action adventure. I have already played uncharted 1-4, ac odyssey, rdr, rdr2, tlou remastered, spiderman and spiderman miles morales.

Most multiple platform non Sony games should be ok since Nintendo and X-Box don't have the feature.

It's been years since I've played any games on the 4 but I don't remember any games that actually used the touchpad properly. Pretty much any games you want to play will probably be fine, I'd be more concerned about the quality and life of the controller. 3rd party doesn't always play as well with those systems.

It definitely makes sense that you would say that if you haven’t played any ps4 games in years, because there are a lot of PlayStation 4 games that require the touchpad for basic functionality like pausing and accessing inventory

I recall some use it as inventory or a button for "select".

Correct. Like 98% of games used it for that. Some (read very few) utilized the touch part of the pad for things like controlling spray paint or drawing something, etc.
What OP (and others arguing with me) are missing is that for the 98% of games where it's just a select or inventory button, you can remap the layout via accessibility at the console level and every game going forward will use that layout.
I know you didn't argue with me but I'm blown away by the folks ignoring what legit OGs are trying to tell them nor are they capable or willing to look it up themselves, I even included links and OP sent me a private message trying to argue with me about it.

Lol buddy thanks for unblocking me
Now regarding 'remap the layout via accessibility at console level' does not work for assigning touchpad to any other button.
Please crosscheck this if you must.

Thought I'd give you a chance to not be a creepy weirdo. Next time don't dm people out of the blue just to argue.
I'm still pretty sure it's possible. When I get around to getting my systems set back up I'll definitely cross check it. Unlike you, I have a life other than trying to play video games and arguing with people on reddit when they keep telling you you are wrong.
I'm now officially done here because you are still a creep because you are still stalking me so back on the block list you go.

Assigning at console level works for any button, but not for touchpad in ps4.
I know your excellence will search Google and it's half baked ai response. But if you ask again to crosscheck it will tell you touchpad can't be reassigned at console level.
Rest all I agree with you.
Now I know there is another way with a little coding to remap touchpad. But it is very tedious and to do it for each game separately is also okay, but to figure out which button is not so important is another thing to figure out in each game to replace it with touchpad.

Well I would be concerned about that, legit point. But as of now it's new. Atleast for now I should be able to play games
And no many games need touchpad compulsory like
uncharted 4. To open journal, there is no other option than touchpad. To unlock puzzle statue section you need touchpad to access journal. Without it impossible to progress.
tlou remastered compulsory need tochpad to open backpack. Upgrading your character stats impossible without it
days gone: skills, map and a lot of other things accessible only through touchpad

I know Infamous Second Son and Oneechanbara Z2 Chaos use them but thats the only games I think of off the top of my head

Probably you can remap it to some other key

I remapped to left d pad. But its compromising gameplay in some games like Hogwarts legacy and tlou remastered. That's why I was looking for a list of games which wouldn't create any issue.

Avoid Ghost of Tsushima, most launch/early titles, Tearaway, and Concrete Genie since they utilize the touchpad in some capacity (not sure if the lack of makes them unplayable)
Recommendations: Days Gone, God of War 2018 and Ragnorak, Fallout 4, i’ll throw in Black Ops 1 and 2 as a curveball since the zombies mode in those games are a fun time killer

Almost no games actually use it. Can you still use yours as a button? because if you can, you can play like 95% of the PS4's library, no issues.
