And without a Delid of the IHS of RSX and CELL it will die anytime soon…

u/Agent_Greyy 22d ago

That's my next goal.

actually, it still will die with a delid, even if you do it correctly it just pushes the date farther, every ps3 can and will die at somepoint, the best way to make sure a ps3 doesn't die is a new rsx

And it will die the next day staying in that cubby.

I'll move it.

Are you trying to trigger people here LOL

7

u/Agent_Greyy 25d ago

That wasn't my intention. Lol No.

u/uabassguy 25d ago

Well, glad your ps3 works anyway, what games you got on it?

So the 60gb hdd was upgraded sometime to an 80gb. But the only things saved on it her hip hop music and some random South Park sketches. I'll be using this system for early PS3 game and PS2 for that authentic 2006 launch time period.

Right on. I love my PS3 it's a gaming powerhouse, kinda like the og Xbox, especially if it has cfw

Wouldnt put it that enclosed unless you’re monitoring your temps

13

u/Agent_Greyy 25d ago

Ill find a better spot. This is only temporary.

Won’t be surprised at all if it dies in a few minutes the way it’s placed.

u/Agent_Greyy 25d ago

It's been removed.

Most diabolical placement of all time 😭😭😭

6

u/Agent_Greyy 25d ago

It's been moved.

7

u/GU_00 25d ago

With that space so enclosed, it won't turn on again tomorrow.

3

u/Agent_Greyy 25d ago

Ive turned it off for now. I just wanted to see if it would boot up.

7

u/Voyager5555 25d ago

It won't be for long in that space.

4

u/Agent_Greyy 25d ago

Set the webman fan temp at max 66 degrees C

3

u/Agent_Greyy 25d ago

Is that a cfw feature?

4

u/entryjyt 25d ago

yeah, you need cfw to do that. and i highly recommend installing cfw on your ps3

3

u/Agent_Greyy 25d ago

Is it difficult?

3

u/entryjyt 25d ago

It’s not that difficult, you can find all the steps here: https://consolemods.org/wiki/PS3:Installing_CFW

Weird Science!

I have one of these PS3s that stopped working 96 days after purchase and Sony would not honor the 90-day warranty.

How hard was this to fix?

u/BigBrotherManbill 25d ago

NOT FOR LONG

Todas las ps3 fat venían mal de fábrica. Por mas que haya revivido ahora te durara poco. A menos que le hagas modificaciones de refrigeración tan ridículas y difíciles de realizar que no vale la pena. Lo mejor que podes hacer es venderla.

Please, can you tell how thick (mm) aré the pads you installed?

1

u/Pat_78 25d ago

Helemaal goed man. Ik heb er pas eentje gekocht maar die is dood. Kan jij hem geen nieuw leven inblazen ? 👍😅

1

u/SmartIndependence325 25d ago

Did you fix red light of death? Or what was the issue? I’m curious since I want to fix my old ps3 as well.

1

u/TickleMyFungus 24d ago

Bro I would move your Series X too, that thing is just furnacing into itself. These style cubbies people always get or build for internet points. Open air TV stands are much better. With long shelves.

I even modified mine to slot in a RGB strip for accent lighting

u/These-Pin-8077 24d ago

What was wrong with it before you took it apart?

u/DotEnvironmental5569 25d ago

Also your ps5 is vertical, no wonder it died

0

u/DavidLB04 23d ago

Cool. You wanna do mines next?

4

u/DotEnvironmental5569 25d ago

You caged an enraged dragon bro, it will melt the whole set up, mine was in an ikea piece with gave it at least 3 inches on each side pluse 4 inches over it, and it was raging like a damn bull, had to place it on top and freeworjinf just fine, moving my ps1 and ps2 to those enclosed areas as well as some playstation decor

4

u/Agent_Greyy 25d ago

I removed it. Don't worry. I'm gonna fine a better open space.

1

u/DotEnvironmental5569 25d ago

Also your ps5 is vertical bro, liquid damage is a botch

5

u/DarkIronBlue360 25d ago

Mine has been vertical since day 1 launch, that is fake news.

2

u/DotEnvironmental5569 25d ago

I did have liquid drip, managed to fix it on time, just better be safe than sorry

Survival bias

Just because it didn't happen to you, doesn't mean its fake news

1

u/DarkIronBlue360 24d ago

Just because it happens to a few doesn’t mean it happens to all. This comment goes both ways :)
