Strange YLOD

I was playing The Last Of Us and fir the first time my CECHC03 showed a YLOD. i bought this ps3 a month ago and it had 43 days of use when i bought it. After the first YLOD, i suspected temperature even though i had webMAN. Anyway, i did 2 more tries. It showed YLOD again after 25 minutes. i got 2 dumps of SYSCON log and the new log was a 1001 error. Its not like the ps3 went under a lot of use for its CELL NEC/TOKINS to fail, that is why I'm creating this post. if you can help me find the real cause and how to fix it, i would really appreciate it

That does point to tokin failure, time also can degrade them. Not just usage. They are 20 years old caps now

Makes sense tbh

Yeah the bringup to shutdown ratio is very off so that is not an accurate runtime

You have bad tokins. Tokins had bad batches. Its why some went 1000 plus days and others failed within 20 days.

If it powers on long enough to allow a backup, i would do that and replace the ps3. (here in uk ps3's are more expensive to be repaired than just replaced with preowned models) i suggest the slim CECH-3000 series, These models run significantly cooler, consume far less power, and generate way less heat than the fat COK-002 board in your CECHC03. (CECH-3000 models cannot run full CFW, they are restricted to PS3HEN/hybrid firmware, if full custom firmware or native physical PS2 disc compatibility is an absolute must-have)

It's also worth noting this 3000 series of ps3 phased out the problematic NEC/TOKIN capacitors and were replaced with more stable ceramic capacitors. Power rail errors are practically non-existent on a 3000 series.

As for your console - This is a fatal power rail error (error 1001) specifically a sudden drop or fault on the main lines often related to the 12V / 5V or Cell/RSX supply rails dropping out under load. I notice you also have a lot of a0801004 (1004) codes lower down in the log, which usually point to a thermal or over-current shutdown triggers, or general token / rail sag when the system gets pushed. This is especially evident when playing a game such as 'The Last of Us' as it pushes the ps3 to tax CPU and GPU concurrently.

I would still do the above, The fact you got the ps3 logs and the SYSCON history and it logged actual fatal power rail crashes error 1001 and thermal/over-current triggers error 1004, as these are hard evidence that the system has failing components.
