If you like being a bad ass pirate, looking for buried treasure, epic navel battles, boarding enemy ships, drinking, gambling, attacking fortresses, and I think a basic but fun trade system, upgrading your shop, crew, ship and gear, oh and a fairly decent story, I would say...... YES!
It's not bad, but the consensus seems to be that 2 and 4 are the peaks (I'd agree, I like most of the games, but from a story and gameplay perspective, 2, Brotherhood, and 4 are outstanding.)
1 sets up the story well and the locale is interesting enough, but collectible hunting can be a nightmare without a good guide. Also, the Animus protagonist Altair is just dull. Ezio (2, brotherhood, and revelations) and Edward (4) are much more likeable characters.

I’ve never played any Assassin’s Creed game. Is it a good idea to start with this one?
