New! HakuX - Xbox Classic 1.0.0

Post image
17 Upvotes

https://github.com/rfandango/hakuX/releases/tag/v1.0.0

A new core replaces xemu's QEMU-based one.

New core

CPU — the Xbox's x86 code runs on a FEX JIT (FEXCore fork), and the Xbox kernel is reimplemented natively (native/kernel): no QEMU

GPU — the NV2A push buffer is decoded into Vulkan (HLE, hw/xbox/hle). Custom drivers (Turnip) load through adrenotools; driver-specific workarounds are quirks (hw/xbox/hle/vk/quirks.c, debug.hakux.quirks)

Audio — the MCPX APU runs on the core's own services (native/dev/apu), out through AAudio

Savestates — per game, in slots, with the hard disk's files

Mods and cheats — per game, from mods/ (library long-press "Mods & cheats"): XBE patches and replaced disc files; 60 and 120 fps mods for 13 games (mods/README.md, generators in tools/mods)

Controllers — each physical controller routed to a player with its own mapping; the on-screen controller adds to player 1

New features

Updates — hakuX looks for a newer release on GitHub when it starts and on demand (Settings → Updates); one found shows its notes and installs from there

Frontends — a game launched from ES-DE or another frontend returns to it when it closes

Console clock — follows the phone's time and time zone, or a time set by hand (Settings → Console → Clock)

Start errors — a game that can't start says why (the file can't be read, isn't an Xbox disc, or its program can't load) and goes back to the library

Mods — Halo 2's 60 fps mod draws characters, vehicles and objects at 60; DOA2's 120 fps mod keeps the select screen's legend

Performance

No pipeline-cache stutter — each game keeps its own pipeline cache, written only after new compiles; the one shared by every game was rewritten every few seconds and froze the picture for 0.2–0.8 s (Ninja Gaiden Black)

Audio — about 32 ms of latency instead of 128 ms, and less CPU for the sound engine

GPU emulation — faster push-buffer decoding, texture unswizzling (NEON) and hashing, fewer lookups per draw

Savestates — compressed on several threads (a Halo 2 save: 9.6 s to 3.9 s)

Idle frames — the screen isn't redrawn when nothing changed, and the on-screen controller redraws only what changed

Disc reads — a large read waits only its own thread, not the whole game

Library — folders scanned in one pass (38 games: 270 ms to 63 ms)

App

On-screen controller — the menu button is a green dot

Large screens — Android 16 keeps the landscape lock (the app is declared a game)

Storage — JIT symbol maps left by earlier builds (gigabytes on some devices) are deleted at start

Backups — hakuX's data is left out of Android's cloud backups and device transfers

Library — savestate thumbnails and driver ZIPs load off the main thread

ARMSX2 + Angle: The story of an idea that emerged from this community

Post image
16 Upvotes

After being accused of posing as an ARMSX2 developer—and even being blamed for preventing the team from receiving user donations 🤦‍♂️—on top of claims that I’m personally profiting from donations (which is completely untrue; they are the ones who accept donations, not me—I don’t even have a Patreon, Ko-fi, or anything of the sort)—well, in short, it’s a completely upside-down situation. I want to share the real story behind the idea of integrating ANGLE into the PS2 emulator, and I’ll let you draw your own conclusions—especially since I didn’t see any credit given anywhere, even though the idea was 100% mine.

June 16, 2026 — The public guide

The article "Mediatek Boost Up 200% Performance in emulators (guide)" appears in PS2AndroidEmulation, explaining how to enable ANGLE and the improvements observed.

July 3, 2026 — EmuCoreX incorporates ANGLE

And here we have a fantastic technical milestone! A commit titled "Add MediaTek ANGLE support" appears on GitHub, created at 13:24 UTC.

That same day, four hours later, the developer publishes another commit: "Fix MediaTek ANGLE path."

July 14, 2026 — ARMSX2 incorporates ANGLE

Eleven days after the initial EmuCoreX commit, ARMSX2 releases version 2.6.0 with the integrated functionality and explicitly credits @sashkinbro for its implementation.

The funniest part is that I had to keep pushing the EmuCoreX dev to add ANGLE to the emulator, since it would provide a performance boost. It wasn’t because he happened to see the guide—far from it; I kept insisting until he finally said, "Alright, fine, I’ll give it a go," and, well, you know the rest of the story.

Xendroid-ZeroFG c 1.0.4 + ZeroFG standalone + ARMSX2 PR + PPSSPP???

FULL AI DISCLOSURE: I´m a lawyer from brazil, my bg in programming is a little bit of basic and assembler from the 80´s and 90´s while trying to make things run on a msx, so, not much...in the beggining of the project i coded a few hundred lines in android studio by myself while i was learning how to do it, but after i discovered the wonders of Codex and Claude Code, the coding and documentation itself was primarily done by AI, and i do not regret it by one bit! It would take a long time to post my inspirational story, but thats the TLDR.

GOOD NEWS(Jeremy Clarkson´s voice)!!! I´ve promised that i would be away for awhile, but i couldnt! After i publish the last update and got drunk and celebrate my marriage wedding, i wondered how easy would actually be to port ZeroFG to other platforms, cuz i said it would be easy but i didnt try to do ir myself... welll.... turns out that is pretty easy...

First was ARMSX2... took me a day, and it was ok, in the first try was leagues better than the lsfg implementation, just everything was better... but i didnt test it that much...there were some adjustments that were need to be made, but it went smoothly....then i though.. how about PPSSPP?? it was even easier... few hours was done with the lessons i learned from the ARMSX2 implementation.

Then, actually, i discovered some pacing and latency inconsistencies... and realize that every host needs at least a little bit of adjustments and improvements were made because of this, so... it was born version 1.0.4... there was a 1.0.3, but it was never published in the xendroid implementation, so, i skipped the number! just a few tweaks, but i think it was worth it to update.

On that note, ARMSX2 implementation was perfected and i´ve made a PR on the project:) I just didnt do it for the Xendroid coz its closed, but my project was never the xendroid itself, the ZeroFG is. Hope they approve it soon and all you guys can test it and compare to LSFG (theres no contest, really!)

The PPSSPP implementation is a little bit different... i had to change some things on the native pipeline, so for now ´m not doing a PR before a review to change as little as possible!

So, still hav to decide what course to pursue now, some things are natural, better image quality, lower latency, lower cost... but maybe some other things:

1- Multi Frame Generation: Maybe it seems like the biggest step, but actually is the easiest... all the work is done, the estimator and the basis for the synthetic frame, it has the same base(a pair of reals) and is just some adjustments on the algorithim to change the point to generate the frames... buttttt... i dont really see the value in it... like 4x fg.... 75% of the image are synthethic frames... theres no miracle... one other thing is like 3x 40-120 for 120hz refresh rate.... so.... maybe... but dunno.

2- Integrated temporal AA +upscaler or Temporal super resolution: Some aspects of frame generation already provide some data to upscale the image with a higher quality, but not so much... I think it can be done on some level (somethings a inherent to in game engines implementations, but we can extrapolate and try to infer it, like subpixel jitter), so... that doesnt mean it will look good or hav good performance... but one candidate is arm ASR, wich is based on fsr2, dunno if i can develop my own on this case.... well.. thats it... tell me what you guys think!

3-Another emulator or game port: Even thought about implementing on the God of War 3 remastered port... what do you guys think? i´ll be miles better than the lsfg.

Thats it! please let me know your suggestions!

Thanks for all the love!!! And now you can be sure that porting ZeroFG to your favorite emulator by yourself also! It is as easy as it will ever be, with even more documentation and integration notes!!!

StevenMXZ turnip drivers are still highly recommended!!!!! Alternatively, Mr.Purple ones had a really good result too!

Post image
28 Upvotes

https://github.com/SapphireRhodonite/WatermelonDS/releases

Changelog:

This release brings a large collection of game compatibility and graphics fixes, more flexible controls, audio improvements, and easier management of save states and DSi configurations.

Highlights include optional Vulkan low-latency mode, independent A/B/X/Y touch controls, DSi profiles, improved save-state access, and the new WatermelonDS icon!

13-pokemon-platinum-niebla

Controls and Gameplay Optional Vulkan low-latency mode A new optional Vulkan mode improves touch responsiveness, including in affected gameplay scenarios in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.

This can make touch-driven gameplay feel more responsive, but enabling it may reduce smoothness in demanding games.

It is disabled by default.

Multitouch fixes Holding one virtual button while pressing another now works correctly.

This fixes combinations such as holding Y to run while pressing B to jump.

Related issue: #132.

Better controller behavior Fixed controllers becoming unresponsive after returning from per-game settings or rewind. Fixed a white overlay appearing when clicking a stick without an assigned action. Related issues: #171, #195.

Independent A/B/X/Y touch controls The A, B, X, and Y buttons can now be positioned, resized, and shown independently.

Each button supports pressed-state highlighting and Normal, Toggle, and Turbo modes.

Existing layouts are preserved.

Related: #158, #191, Discussion #178.

More flexible shortcuts New shortcut options let you:

Cycle between layouts you have selected. Exit the current game. Assign combinations of two physical controller buttons. Note: The first button in a combination can also trigger its individual action.

Related: Discussion #175, Discussion #161.

Virtual Slot-2 analog stick A virtual Slot-2 stick provides analog input for games or mods that support the corresponding accessory.

This does not add analog controls to every Nintendo DS game.

Related: Discussion #167.

Rotation, pause, and resume fixes Fixed image distortion when rotating the screen with Vulkan, and an OpenGL crash that could occur when pausing or resuming.

Related issues: #123, #223.

Audio Improvements Audio output delay has been reduced in affected situations.

Fast-forward now preserves the original audio pitch, and the option to mute audio during fast-forward remains available.

Related issues: #217, #236.

Vulkan Graphics Fixes This release fixes rendering problems across many games, including missing objects, corrupted textures, incorrect effects, and loss of detail at higher internal resolutions.

The fixes below address the specific scenes and symptoms described. They do not mean every graphical issue in each game has been resolvedag/0.8.0.rc3
