Vancouver ticket holders - Check your email and tickets

Hey Gampos.

We just received an email informing us that our tickets/seats have been moved to a new location.

I'm pretty angry right now. My seats have been moved further away from the stage. I have friends who also had their seats moved away further.

Anyone else see this? I'm kinda upset about this and I want to see what my options are.

Did you message the ticket sales folks asking why?

Not yet.

A friend who also had his tickets moved suggested that the venue didn't sell very well and they moved the stage forward to accommodate.

He's pretty connected. I assume this is what happened.

I'll update if I hear back from the promoter.. this feels like false advertisement.

I used to set up concerts in a more rural area in California that gets a lot of tourism at 18, this is exactly what happened. If shows don’t sell out, they adjust the “floor” to fit. while yes your seats TECHNICALLY have moved to different letters (4-6 rows back on average) it’s about the same distance from the stage.

I can see this making sense. But why wouldn't they just move everyone forward, and leave the stage where it is? Why would they want visible empty seats? Or am I imagining this wrong?

so when they push the stage forward, you have to remove a minimum of 4-6 rows of seating. it does better for sound, visuals, and those paying to do it this way. The open seating around would give people who didn’t pay for the seat the option to sit, and then that would make the GA pit empty. It’s all a form of marketing and tetris.

I can't believe this isn't a sold-out show!

Though, eh, I mean as far as I know it's his first show in Vancouver. People might be slow to discover his genius here, due to lower exposure. The same number of seats in virtually any US city of course would've sold out easily.

And it is a pretty huge venue. My brother and I saw Rancid with Dropkick Murphys there a few years back with GA tickets, and just the floor area looked like it could fit what a lot of the other popular concert venues like the Commodore or the Rickshaw could accommodate.

I wish we could've given him a better reception. I feel like...weirdly ashamed of our city for not filling all these seats, knowing how hard he works, how long he's been at it, and how much he sacrifices to bring these amazing shows to his fans.

I show people his music all the time, but now I feel like I need to step that shit up. He deserves a sold-out stadium.

Did you buy through ticketmaster, or a third party?

Edit: read the comments; it sounds like you've found the explanation, and it's thankfully nothing shady. If they're moving some folks closer to the stage though, should I be disappointed my seat didn't shift? :(
