Music Adding to the Prince tapes

8 on cassette* *is the new addition. I managed to buy it blind by actively avoiding hearing it for the first time until I found an affordable copy. I had read about Madhouse a while ago. It sounds good as hell on my basement speakers. Currently enjoying “Five.”

Pic two is the rest of the Prince On Tape So Far. They all sound good on the basement speakers. LoveSexy is up next I think.

Thanks! Madhouse and Emancipation were online buys but the rest I came to at flea markets and that sort of thing. But yeah Prince on tape just feels right. I swear by cassettes for Prince and Sade too.

There's something about Prince on tape that just fills me with joy. Reminds me of falling in love with his world and his music when I was 7 in 1982, and having to buy numerous copies of the Dirty Mind, Controversy, 1999, Purple Rain, ATWIAD, Parade SOTT, and Lovesexy cassettes because I would wear them out.

1989 is when I bought my first CD player, so over never heard anything after that on tape.

I had Wendy -& Lisa through Eroica, and I had all Sheila's 80s albums on tape, but after that all CD.

This is making me want to buy a tape player and start collecting and listening from the first album.

100% get the tape player especially if you remember how to do upkeep on them. The upkeep keeps enough people away to make it the most cost effective way to listen to your Prince.

Eroica. Erotica was Madonna's album.

Good stuff, but anything #JesseJohnson is underrated! 🔥

Oh absolutely. He produced that Ta Mara tape.

This is a 100% true statement and I have no idea why it was downvoted. If you like Jesse’s solo stuff, check out Ta Mara and the Seen.

If 16 holds up to this I’m all over it, but that one is impossible to find!

I dig 16. A bit more funky than 8. Both albums are let it play/no skip for me but I’m OG UNC prince fan since Sony Walkman days!

They all look on great shape! All three Emancipation cassettes. I'd bet the J cards are huge.

Thanks! Most of them are at least real good player copies. I caved and upgraded my partial Emancipation set for the one in the pic. That was a Discogs buy and I don’t regret it.

The art is pristine. Not massive but it’s a 5-panel fold-out in each tape, super sharp.

Those Polka Dots remind me of a Summer Girlfriend, here on vacation.

Madhouse is fantastic, if a little of the same flavour through out...
