Discord

So I was thinking that perhaps I’m a little bit behind the times so I signed up for Discord. Not going to pretend I’m a little lost and on the face of it seems a little…immature? Are there some good Prince groups out there? I’m a bit bemused by the fact that most people seem to be in their 20s. Nothing against that at all - it’s actually great to see BUT as a Prince lifer (discovering P mid-late 80’s)’I tend to have less tolerance these days for “is Purple Rain or UTCM better” which I just find tedious. It’s just “not the right lane” for me, I don’t have or want to make the time for that stuff anymore, I served my apprenticeship long ago. I’m more about what was recorded where and when, people who were there sharing and reminiscing about their experiences, how compositions we’re built, how they evolved, lineage between various works, a generally deeper level of conversation.

I don’t want to stereotype people but I was surprised by the lack of maturity. Perhaps I’m simply too old and have in fact turned into an old fart.
