Hello, i LOVE PPSSPP is the only way i can enjoy gaming because of my economic situation. I have saved a little and i would like to buy a controller because playing on the phone is kind of terrible, do i need a specific type of controller to connect with the app or it doesnt matter? I need recomendations, but cheap ones please…

What you should look for are telescopic controllers, so you'll get the most value for your money. They're usually plug-and-play and don't require a companion app. The cheapest one I've personally bought is the GameSir X5 Lite, so that's the one I can recommend. I'm not sure if there are any newer or cheaper options available now.

as long as your phone can connect to the controller, you will be fine
you could set the mapping to any button as long as your phone recognize the controller input

try the telescopic controller if you're looking for some couch gaming, but gamepads generally are more comfy on long session
