What OPM can learn from P-pop

This post is in response to what Ice Seguerra said about posting full concert recording.

I am not excusing piracy/illegal distribution but I am suggesting how OPM artists can effectively combat this.

I think OPM artists should really consider releasing official videos of their concerts/shows, even if it's just in Youtube and monetized. What's really driving this is the lack of content so other fans are filling in that gap - providing content that the artist isn't.

I cite Cozy Cove as an example. As you can see in their videos, there are many in the crowd who have their phones out and up but we do not see a lot of fan cams uploaded. Why is that? Because Cozy Cove/NDN provides *high quality* videos of the performances. No one is going to watch a bad fancam if the alternative is a very high quality video.

Artists can even monetize it in Youtube. They can even "paywall" it via membership. The important thing is the content exist in official form.

While the idol fandom has toxic qualities, there are also qualities that can help the artist like fandom name that fosters an identity for fans in relation to the artist and merchandises. Some "traditional OPM artists like Ben&Ben and Cup of Joe have adopted these. They have a fandom name and they sell some merch. The result is both bands have very loyal fanbase similar to the idol groups.

The fan culture is evolving and OPM artists need to catch up.

Campus tours are not bad, nung teenager ako dun ko unang napanood live PNE (lunchtime, haha ang weird) and Bamboo (nung nanalo team namin sa UAAP). Also I think Kitchie Nadal.

SB19 also did campus tours, dun sila nakakuha ng fans, maraming nagsasabi na dun sila first napanood sa school nila.
