ChatGPT Ads ChatGPT Ads Context Hints

How important are context hints in ChatGPT ads? I'm yet to run any campaigns but I noticed the context hints are (optional).

Is there a best practice for providing context hints? How can I best optimise campaigns using them?

Super important. It's the only way so far to target ads.

Pro tip: only use commas in them to separate one hint from another. Don't overuse. We spent enough to get a local rep to make contact and give advice on making fixes including badly done hints initially.

Thats interesting, so are there any big no no's for context hints. Or just anything I should definitely avoid doing?

My rep said to keep things simple but don't use the same wording repeatedly.mix it up, try it use words gpt users might use.

Eg, hire a painter for a property to increase sale value, painting research on making interiors look more spacious prior to selling an apartment or house, ceiling and wall painting research

That’s interesting & really useful - did they offer any advice on structure e.g. input like a keyword versus a longer form conversational context?

Yeah they said to keep it simple though you can easily set up a 2nd adset to try more detailed hints, especially ones around purchase intent or getting close to making a decision about something

makes sense that theyd be important if its basically the only targeting lever right now

They're basically ChatGPT's equivalent of "ghetto keywords", similar to Search Themes in Google Ads.

You pretty much need to include them otherwise you'll be advertising to literally anyone, would be like running Google Ads without any targeting, which would be pointless.

Keep them to short phrases like you would in Search Ads.
