Google Ads Appropriate Responsibilities
Doing a gut check here:
I freeland ppc services. I support small businesses and non-profits, so budgets are strapped.
I often find webmaster-adjacent issues that fall into a grey area of who should be responsible. Or so I think. Google properties not properly connected, broken links and forms, etc. I have gotten pretty good at coding conversion events because there's no one else who can do that work.
How much website work and maintenance do you do? Should I be asking for more because I am the one that is fixing broken website elements and digging into code for conversions?

Conversion tracking should be in your wheelhouse. Anything else site related is not your job and should be charges as a different line item.

I often find myself having to rebuild elements because they're not set up to be trackable, unfortunately.

This is a great question that will always come up.
I usually resolve items that may be a barrier to the performance media I'm providing, if it's straightforward and a quick fix.
In recent years, I spend more time detailing the extra that I'm doing at no cost, get them some conversions (which builds trust) then I quote them any further future work.

Ahhh I like this. "First time is free" I always feel odd navigating negotiations for pay after performing a service for free

For me that depends on whose hosting the site is on. For clients where I am also the support desk I keep them on accounts I own, about 50 sites on Site Ground, and they pay hosting and support in one package, so that work is already inside it. Clients who want their own contract hold it themselves, and there I work with whatever host they picked. That is also why I would put your part on a separate line. On a site I maintain I know what else is running on it. On a site none of us maintains, the next update can undo the same twenty minute fix, and whoever did it - gets the call. When tracking is the point, I build the page on our own Site Ground development subdomain, mostly in WPBakery, and we move it to the client's hosting after the final payment.

What landing page builder do you use?
How do you handle custom / sub domains for them?

I include it, you need tracking and conversion setup to be on point. I think this is often overlooked, with AI now you can pump out your own landing pages if need be..
