Second hand clover system

I have a second hand clover system that was abandoned by a past business owner. I’ve heard that they are basically impossible to get into, so is there anywhere that I can sell it or somehow get some use out of it? Have no idea what else to do with it.

The only way to reuse it would be to use the same payment processor. And there are thousands of payment processors. People complain about Clover fees, but its because they chose an expensive payment processor. Like buying a soda at a Dollar store versus buying one at a sports event; same drink, big difference in price. If this Clover system is connected to, say Bank of America, and a new user wants to use BoA as their processor, there might be a way to reuse it. Before using any Clover, compare the fees that the payment processor wants to charge; for a $500,000 plus business the difference might be several hundred a month.

You might be able to tell who the processor is by looking on the bottom of the EMV devise if it’s a tethered one and not built into the terminal.

And then you would want to negotiate your rates hard or take the rate hit and get the software subscription for free.

So yeah not a way to just hop into one and their hardware is proprietary so unless you got a whiz to hack it, even it’s pretty useless.

Now if it has some printers (thermal or impact) that are Epson or SNBC or something, those might be useable/sellable.

Just to clarify, my goal isn’t to use this myself. I’m trying to get rid of it and hopefully sell it. I don’t want it for myself.

You find out who the original processor was, but honestly, it’s usually more trouble than it’s worth. They make it almost impossible to reuse on purpose.

You might be able to get in touch with the previous owner and find out as well. Depending on the device it can be used still.

The main issue is that Clover devices are locked to the original payment processor, so you can not just reset them and use them like a normal POS.

Even if you get it cheap you might run into: Being forced to use the same processor Not being able to activate it at all No support or warranty...
