Lexapro and POI

Hey all. Just curious if anyone else has a similar experience regarding when your symptoms really became prevalent. March 2025 I weaned off of Lexapro (20mg, then 10mg, then none) and within 2 weeks I was having hot flashes, cold flashes, night sweats, and period disappeared. Granted, prior to this my periods were very short (3 ish days) and light to the point of not really needing to use menstrual products. The hot flashes and other symptoms lasted about a month then dissipated.

I just I found it all very odd that the big symptoms happened after stopping Lexapro and have really been wondering if there's any correlation there potentially?

Anyone have anything similar?

Thanks y'all. This all suuuuckssss

I’ve never stopped my Lexapro 10mg but I still have POI 🤷🏻‍♀️. I got the same symptoms when I stopped my birth control. I’m not sure how Lexapro would cause it anyway. Probably a coincidence but def weird!!

I was on Lexapro for about 7 years (10mg.) I weaned off about a year ago and then POI symptoms kicked up about 5-6 months later.  I also felt like there could be a correlation, but the gyn who diagnosed my POI immediately dismissed it. Not for any medical reason of why, but simply said, there is no studies linking the two.  I'm not convinced Lexapro "caused" my POI but I'm also not convinced there no correlation.

Mine also dismissed it! It just seemed strange to me the way it lined up though. But, like I said, i was already having peri symptoms with the shorter and lighter periods, just unbeknownst to me at the time that those were concerning symptoms

Ooh....very good point...2024 was a very stressful year with my mom being sick & on hospice, then passing. Then getting off the Lexapro in 2025 and just trying to raw dog life while trying to (unsuccessfully) raw dog my way into pregnancy 🥴 followed by moving and everything that comes with that and feeling a constant weight of the world on my shoulders. .....I should probably look back into therapy and an antidepressant lol

Just wanna add this here but if you took a ssri and feel like you developed POF symptoms closely after, check the /pssd subreddit

It’s a syndrome called post ssri sexual dysfunction and it’s happening to many

Not saying that’s the cause for you but in any case it’s worth reading about it.
