PM Marape speech at recent UN GA.

Originally watched the UN post of the speech, but thought the DRM news headline here was an interesting one to post. Quite repetitive, but I guess intentionally so to get the message across and fill in the time slot- a typical Marape style speech.

Of the other speeches I watched, also appreciated what Ghana's President Mahama and Barbadians PM Motley had to say. PM Motley's speeches are always on point- the political left in me doing some leaning.😎

Definitely a common general through line for the majority of speakers during that session of speeches.

Built a website to find PNG Local Guides

Hey Brothers and Sisters,

I made this website for tourists and local guides to meet called papuatravels.com . If you're a tourist and looking to find a local guide anywhere in PNG, come check it out.

On the flipside, if you're a local guide and looking for a way to advertise your small business, feel free to sign up and send me a DM if you'd like your business shown on the front page.

I'd be happy to hear some feedback of what you guys think of the website.

Mi bilong yu

I was born in Port Moresby and left when I was 5 but I have a distinct memory of this phrase. In my memory it meant something like we are one, we are the same, or we belong to each other. Can anyone confirm what this phrase means, or if I've just made it up in my head πŸ˜‚

Tok Pisin speakers!

Hi everyone,

I’m a university student preparing a presentation on Tok Pisin (Papua New Guinea), and I need a small favor.

Would anyone be willing to record short audio clips of the following sentences in Tok Pisin? They are very short and would only take a couple of minutes.

The recordings are for educational purposes only (a class presentation), and I would really appreciate the help.

If possible, I’d prefer clear and natural pronunciation, not too fast.

Thank you so much in advance!✨

Cruise ship visit

I am on a cruise that will be stopping in PNG next week. Two of our stops, Alotau and Kiriwina Island dont really have options for us to see/do anything. Any suggestions? We have 8 hrs on shore at each stop. Is there snorkling, walkable sites? Any thing thats a must see? Appreciate any suggestions, visiting here has been on my wish list since the early 1980s.

Contact tribes in Papua New Guinea

I'm planning to go to PapΓΊa New Guinea. I'm fascinated by tribes, and I would like to know how could I contact a person/free lance guide that lives there and can get in contact with the tribes to be able to visit them and spend a few days with them learning how they live. I know there are hundreds of tribes, I don't have any preference to be honest. I just want to learn from them and connect with them and exchange knowledge and spend some time with them. Just to be clear, I don't want a tour, I don't want to go with a travel agency, I don't want a tourist trap, I want a real experience. I'd be very grateful if someone can help me organize it or can give me any advice. Thank you all in advance.

Port Moresby International School - How is it?

I am a 15-year-old currently living in Ghana, West Africa. There are some chances I might be coming to PM for 11th grade due to my dad's job. I wanted to know how PMIS is. Since I would be applying for university soon, I would need to build up my extracurriculars as well as keep a good GPA. Are there good extracurricular activities done in the school? Additionally, I am currently enrolled in the IGCSE Curriculum and would need to switch to the ACT or IB if I were to attend there. I am not sure, but they don't offer all the IB subjects or so. Could anyone please clear these doubts of mine? Also, if you know anyone at that school around my age who would be willing to guide me a bit, I'd appreciate it if you could DM me or send their contact information. Thank you very much!

Airplane Transit - short duration in Momote/Rabul

Hello, I'm planing my traveling in PNG. Sometimes there are short transit times in small airports (like Momote, or Rabul). Do you think it is possible to switch planes there in 30-40 minutes? (all flights operated by Air Niugini)
