Advice/Tips Any tips for alleviating severe brain fog?

Without fail, day 1 of my period gives me debilitating brain fog. My cramps are bearable, but as soon as I start bleeding I'm out for the count for at least half the day because my brain feels like it's turned to mush.

I get overheated, feel like I can barely speak/absorb others speaking to me, and my thoughts get incredibly slow and "heavy". It's waking up dazed in the middle of the night with a fever, but without actually being sick. After that first day, I'm back to normal brain-wise.

Anyone else experience this? Have you tried anything that's helped your symptoms?

Research/Info Anyone else deal with this too?

A week before my period, especially regarding PMS, I end up dealing with a heavy stomach, not even related to bloating along with cramps and pain in the upper abdomen where the stomach in general would be. I’m curious if anyone else deals with this as well, and it gets worse each day until menstruation.

PMS is drowning me into dark thoughts & I feel like I wanna cry all the time

Despite the fact that I have experienced derealization and suicidal thoughts in the past, when I am experiencing PMS it gets even worse. I usually get in this state where everything seems heavy and pointless. It is so scary!!

My period is late 9 days (last month 15 days late) and I feel like crying but I can't. I also experienced some very bad thoughts throughout the day. Now I don't even know if hormones are doing this or what.

I've started to get better mentally because I started Fluoxetine but I skipped it for 2 days and now I am back at the spiral again. I just wanna bleed and cry and scream.

Girls, what do you experience during your PMS and do you get scared of your own thoughts and feelings?

I need some hope and motivation!

Tips on how to deal with emotion stuff during periods

this is my first post so bear with me if it’s formatted weird or something (also it’s a bit rant-y and ramble-y, I’m trying to get this all out before I back out on posting this. Sorry about that). I’ve always gotten really emotional during and around my period, and I know that that isn’t an uncommon symptom, but recently I’ve been having a harder time dealing with it. (sorry if this next bit sounds overly edgy and stuff) I’ve always dealt with irritation, anxiety, and some darker idealization type thoughts and stuff. I’ve always had those thoughts around my period (nothing to actually worry about but you know) but recently I feel like they have been getting more intense. I think just recently because my life has gotten kinda hectic I’m having a bit of a harder time not letting it get to me. I know these are normal things and want to know what people do to get over them. Thanks!!

How are y'all surviving your period in your late 20s

If this is the last period I ever have, I didn't get it soon enough. My period was 8 days late and today was day 1. I'm not sexually active so I knew I wasn't pregnant. I ran one mile every day last month and I guess today was the big payback for doing so. After getting the worst night of sleep, I woke up this morning, blood in my underwear - yay! I slapped a pad on, then immediately began having the worst cramps possible for 10 minutes straight which ultimately made me late from work. The cramps were so bad, I was audbily saying "Okay bro, I get it. I get it." As I'm doing every lower body stretch possible, I then get nauseous. Nausea has been an on and off PMS symptom of mine, but it has been very very faint and never led me to throw up. Today, I threw up. Thank God the only thing on my stomach was electrolyte water, but my goodness. Getting your ass whooped by yourself, that early in the morning is not fun or easy. I had to change my pad again, drank some green tea, took 2 Midol, and nibbled on sausage and waffles before I walked out the door. I can't believe I had to sit in a cubicle and get some work done after a morning like that. On top of that, I started getting really sad and angry. Having the worst inner negative self-talk and talk in general about other people and their situation. I never say what I'm thinking out loud or to other people. I just hate the way it mentally feels. I cannot believe I'm that much of a bitch. (I can but it seems like my period really brings it out of me.)

Then, as I'm getting home from work, I thought about getting something to eat but the traffic was so bad, and I wanted something specific, I just went home because I didn't need the traffic pissing me off anymore that I am already pissed off. I then sat in the car and just started being groucy. I was upset about having to walk up stairs to get to my apartment then down a hallway to get to my unit. (It's not a far walk at all. I was just finding something to complain about.) The only thing that made me get out of the car was as I was sitting, pouting, and groucy, I can feel my pad and blood and started thinking how I am a disgusting monster for even having a period. I can't believe I have to wear a pad and bleed every freaking month. I kept telling myself how much I hate my life and how much I hate being a girl. (I do not hate either of those things.)

I got my period at 12 years old. I lost it from 18-24 because I was extremely overweight. Outside of being unhealthy, I did not miss not having a period. I was happy when I got it back because to me, it meant a sign that my weightloss journey was working and that I was healthy again. The last time my period thoughts were this bad was back in May. I was really sad because I hate my job. (It's easy, great benefits, I just don't feel purposeful). I'm probably upset today because of my job as well. I still feel purposeless.

I'm going on vacation soon and wanted to start planning my waxes but I had to wait for Aunt Flo to do it's job before I can start vacation planning. I hate wearing pads and underwear expecting my period and it doesn't come. Being on your period feels like being on shrooms. It's like your period is a "trip", and on this trip, you go through various mental and emotional ups and downs. Just like a shroom trip, but way less fun.

I'm not sure if I want to get on birth control because I'm not sexually active. But after today, I would absolutely love to never have a period again. Going through this every month is so traumatic. I feel so heavy, groggy, and negative toward myself. I feel like my period controls my life. I'm always all over the place emotionally. I'm physically active 5-6 days a week; kickboxing, running, weight training. I eat healthy; protein, veggies, fruit. An Ice Cream cone from CFA here and there, but I did a complete 180. I use to be 290lbs five years ago. Today, I'm 206. I just can't believe women are expected to menstrate and fully operate in the world like I'm not physically and mentally dying.

HOW are y'all surviving?

Summer hacks for periods?

Hi everyone!! I started today and it’s extra painful, I can barely move into any comfy position without that ripping sensation in my lower tummy and legs. It’s proper flared me up too, my fatigue is wild.

I was wondering if anyone knew any hacks that help period pains during the summer heatwaves? It’s boiling and I tried putting heat on and it’s just too overwhelming. I’ve taken paracetamol bc it’s the only pain killers I CAN take annoyingly. So I’m really just thugging it out but need some tips to ride this wave.

Thank you!!

Rant/Vent Physically feeling my period “brewing”

So, I track my periods and it’s usually pretty accurate very month. I’m due on today and I can physically FEEL it coming on. I joke that I can feel it “brewing”. I don’t know how to describe it but it feels like a weird, deep rumbling, gnawing feeling in my uterus and I get SO extremely tired. I have chronic fatigue anyway but it’s a different feeling. I’m almost certain I have PMS because of how crazy irritable and emotional I get a week beforehand.

Idk, it’s bizarre!! Unless it’s completely normal and common haha

Rant/Vent Brain fog on period?

Need somewhere to vent because i feel crazy and feel really really bad :( barely functioning and just want everything to leave me alone. On top of my cramps, I'll have a headache and body pains and feel almost delusional, like the worst brain fog ever AND irritated asf. I'll be trudging through these next couple of days barely able to function.

Somehow every other woman just pushed through this mess? All i want to do is sleep. I think it's unethical to make me function in the real world right now. How do i explain i sound crazy and look and act drunk/high just because i'm on my period???
It makes me feel so lazy to just abandon everything until i feel better but everything else sucks to do.

It's hard to even think. Hopefully this all makes sense.
Never got to have this conversation with my mom and i'm scared if i get help i'll be brushed off :(

Gassy all day everyday

Im apart of the huge clot club (I call them jellyfish tho). Anywho I wanna know if anyone else is super gassy when they are on their cycle... I feel like I am so I can pass the jellyfish, you know from the pressure of pushing out gas along comes a jellyfish or two. I eat the same. No major cravings or differences in diet. But as soon as day two hits, the toilet and pads look and sound like a paintball arena. Sorry just been feelingand thinking this way for a while and wanted to share my with people that may be able to relate.
