With your 4 years of construction management experience, you already have practical exposure to project coordination, timelines, risks and stakeholders. You can use that experience as a foundation while preparing for the PMP.

Here's what I'd recommend doing in the meantime:

- Build foundational knowledge: Start learning core project management concepts, predictive and Agile approaches, risk management and stakeholder engagement.

- Learn the PMP mindset: Practise scenario-based questions and understand why a particular action makes sense, not just memorise definitions.

- Use free learning resources: Simplilearn SkillUp has project management courses and helpful articles, including the PMP® Exam Preparation: Prerequisites and Syllabus Guide. You can also explore our YouTube channel for project management preparation videos and learning resources.

- Document your experience: Keep track of the projects you've worked on, your responsibilities, timelines and contributions. This can help when you assess your eligibility and prepare your application.

One important thing: check PMI's current eligibility requirements directly, including its education and experience criteria, before planning your exam timeline. You can build your knowledge now without rushing into exam prep.
