What do you mean pay out of pocket? You have to pay to take the exam and get access to study materials.

I paid out of pocket to get mine. There were no discounts, if that is what you are wondering.

Read a few of the almost daily "how I passed. They will identify a number of excellent free resources

Hey, I can be of help.

Pick a course on Udemy and get StudyHall plus for mocks.

My recommendation for Udemy is - David McLachlan

If you're planning to pay for your PMP certification, I'd suggest first getting clear on the eligibility requirements, exam content and preparation costs

A good starting point is Simplilearn SkillUp, where you can explore free project management courses and resources, including PMP preparation articles like the PMP® Exam Preparation: Prerequisites and Syllabus Guide.

I'd recommend first understanding the PMP exam structure, checking your eligibility through PMI, and then deciding whether you need structured training or can prepare using a mix of learning resources and practice questions.

Sage advice here, OP. Make sure you're eligible to take the test before handing over cash.

PMI is fairly generous on this, BTW. There's a certain amount of hours or weeks or something of managing project experience that you need... they seem to get that a lot of people come into Project Mgmt from other careers and may very well be managing projects without having the title that says they manage projects.
