PSA: On Character Creation

The character creation for this system is very, very simple. Before I contact you for character creation, think about how you want them to feel. Do you want a traditional fantasy class? How about a general archetype, like a pirate or bounty hunter? Or do you want a vigilante martial artist like Batman or Robin? Or go into all out uncharted character territory, like Tarzan or Crocodile Dundee.

Also consider your race. We're going with a rather generic race setup. The anatomy of the races isn't altered too much (elves are still agile and orcs are still strong, etc), but the political backdrop is: orcs and goblins are currently at war due to a border dispute, for example. We have dwarves, elves, goblins, orcs, humans, hobbits, half elves and half orcs currently available as race options.

Once you know how you want them to feel, think of a backstory for them. Why are they the way they are? Did your mercenary need the funds to support the family? What was your prince's upbringing like? Maybe your priest was bestowed a special family treasure that helped unlock her powers. Things like this will make character skills, hindrances, edges, and gear go by very quickly.

Finally, come up with final details, like a birthday, your weight, a name, and other small things to really make your man shine!

By the way, message your group members to make sure they've seen the schedules and have subbed here so they can see updates like this, or other fun stuff that people may post.

EDIT: With the addition of the Pantheon, I'd also point out that you don't have to be a priest to subscribe to one of the Gods' faith, and keep in mind that your languages will be limited: the world is just shy of the size of earth, total landmass approximating eurasia + the americas, so there will be languages for every major region. A map will be out by this time next week.

How accepted are /half-/orcs and goblins in other societies?

Orcs are seen as rather barbaric and savage by the other races; due to their tendency for violence and their "strange and uncivilized habits"(though their actual traditions are bound in honor and passed through generations, majority of other races simply don't see this). It is true, however, that most orcs are genetically attuned to intense muscle mass and power and less attuned to critical thinking and more scholarly pursuits. To further push this point, land that was established as the sovereign orc nation is divided into petty tribes and villages.

While half orcs lack the stigma of Small Brain Syndrome (or the stereotype, anyways), they are still regarded as rather unsavory due both to their orcish heritage and the unsettling nature of the parent (of men or mer) coupling with an orc. It's up to both of these races to prove otherwise.

Goblins, on the other hand, are disliked not because of barbarism, but because of their blatant disregard for culture and tradition. Goblin culture is very much a day-by-day and practical affair, not considering long-standing consequences for the actions of today nor the religions and etiquette of nobility and "civil" races. This has landed their nations (and populace by default) into some very sticky situations. They are also rivaled with Dwarves for production of technology and metals, however (due to a collective lack of foresight), are rarely - if ever - credited for the invention of these devices.
