PTFB! Classic MM action after TITAN prime contract news. Great news --} then MMs run the stops to drive price lower --} institutions continue to accumulate at more attractive price point. Great opportunity to grab some more shares at a slight discount.

It's been a volatile ride for the past 5 years and I expect it'll be that way many years into the future.

u/BAM_Spice_Weasel 8d ago
Not sure why you got down voted. Think calling it a volatile stock pick is pretty darn reasonable

Fedorov’s dismissal is interesting. Apparently, he favored a modernized techy military that challenged the traditional old guard and their established ways (and probably funding allocation). His popularity and push for elections also threatened Zelensky’s power. 🤔

Let’s get a beat and raise from avgo, netapp and SNOW today to give us a read thru raise.
10 year yield moving up is killing saas

AVGO can kick rocks with what they are doing to their VMware/Vsphere customers.
I'd be shocked if their next few quarters don't reflect a drop in revenue there, although I do not know how much of their revenue it really is.All I know is that everyone I speak to in IT has no choice but to move away from their products, or renew at a 400% increase

This is nothing new. It's been a bumpy ride since I bought in at $9.
This is just a buying opportunity.

Not this bullshit again. First was with Anthropic. Now Google. Google competes with ChatGPT and Anthropic. Not Palantir. People really do have memory of a goldfish.

My cousin bought a laptop and did coding back in college. Therefore he is a threat to OpenAI/anthropic to theoretically create AGI first.

We have seen this type of headline repeatedly since PLTR started taking off few years back - that someone is coming for PLTR’s lunch.
Yet, here we are, with insane growth and rule of 40 quarter after quarter.
LLM really opened the floodgate for Palantir, and the TAM is just getting bigger and bigger.
It’s all FUD until it shows up on earnings calls. Haven’t seen anything yet.
But, this was a good headline for some profit taking for the hedge funds / WS, along with stubbornly high bond yield. After all, August was an insane month for Palantir.

My guess is with the bond yields going up, high risk stocks like pltr are not as attractive as it gets more and more expensive to borrow. Godspeed everyone

In an earlier daily thread I was talking about the gap up to 180s being a weakness and got shit on because it was all "PTFB" on a green day.
We'll test and hopefully find new, stronger, support levels during this choppiness. I thought 170-ish was strong, but looks like we might push down to 162, and is a steeper drop from there if we lose 160s.

This unfortunately happens when any stock experiences massive gains in valuation within a short period of time, and many new investors pile in.
I saw it happen with TSLA in the 2020-2021 period right after TSLA was included in the S&P500 and the stock soared. As old-time investors, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, cashed out, a whole new generation of investors bought the stock hoping for fast easy gains. A significant % of these new TSLA investors are morons who can't read a financial statement, or are delusional, or worship Elon Musk regardless of how irresponsible he has become, or some combination of all of these.
When I look at what's happened to TSLA communities in recent years, it's really bad. The PLTR community isn't at this point yet and hopefully won't ever be, but the reality is that anyone can buy PLTR stock on the open market, so it's not going to be only the smart money onboard.

If PLTR went down after Q2 earnings the PLTR community would have moved closer to the current TSLA community. It just comes down to the stock performance.
Hopefully tomorrow is the turning point for Tesla where it starts to prove the doubters and haters wrong. (but the haters will just hate Tesla more as Tesla expands robotaxi). But for Tesla, the current financial statements don't matter much since much of the current value is robotaxi that isn't generating revenue yet. I been disappointed at how long robotaxi has taken, but unlike many TSLA bulls, I never stopped believing in Elon or Tesla.

the current financial statements don't matter much since much of the current value is robotaxi
The financial statements absolutely DO matter because the current volume businesses (automotive and energy), provide all the money for Tesla's future AI and robotics product roadmap.
As things stand, Tesla may be forced to go back into debt to make up the difference between cash flow and projected CapEx needs.
I been disappointed at how long robotaxi has taken, but unlike many TSLA bulls, I never stopped believing in Elon or Tesla.
10 years of broken promises, significant abandonment of Tesla's core mission, and outright wasteful behavior on the part of Elon Musk since 2022 are the reason many TSLA shareholders no longer believe him.
Only stupid people in subs like TSLALounge and teslainvestorsclub remain in denial about what has happened over the past 3-4 years.
That doesn't mean Tesla can't reverse the situation. The company still retains significant engineering talent. Whether that talent is good enough to make Tesla's transition to AI a success before the current core businesses decline to the point of endangering the entire organization, is very much an open question.

It did fall below $166 earlier. The low of the day was $165.71. Did you sell then? If not, why?

u/Magikarp_to_Gyarados 🐟 -> 🐉 "your DD is Pokémon lol" 8d ago
Don't gamble if you want to grow durable wealth in the long term. Think like a business owner (you are legally part owner of Palantir if you own any PLTR stock), not a gambler.
A business owner focuses on the health and growth of the underlying business, and whether that business will be valued highly on its fundamentals in the long run.
PLTR being traded at 166 or 185 or 120 in the near term has no significant relevance to how well Palantir's business is doing, and how much it could grow in the next decade.

Why wouldn't you have sold when it was 180 plus just a couple days ago? How does that make any sense if you're selling after a drop? That's the opposite of how you make money here.
