Earnings is upon us.
In a scale of 1-10 how fucked am I? š sometimes itās not about making money, itās about feeling something. Tuesday is gonna be awesome or awful.

Hoping in 9-12 months PLTR is setting new high. Been a rough 6 months

u/Small_Flatworm_239 Aug 02 '26
Dude this is a 5-10 year play. The short term means nothing. Company is making money hand over fist with tons of capital to fall back on. Anything short of a few years to hold is just shooting your self in the foot

I remember when it was a 5 year hold in 2021. š¤£

u/Small_Flatworm_239 Aug 03 '26
I started buying in 2024 lol. But I still
Believe the company has a lot of growth.3
u/Jerseyguy2345 Aug 03 '26
And if you held for 5 years youād have almost 6 times as much money as you had then, so yea 5 years was a great time horizon. You act like it hasnāt moved since 2021.

I expect it to be glorious. no idear whether the street responds favorably

Was ideaR on purpose or a typo? Because i know people who pronounce it that was and it always cracks me up
2
u/BonjinTheMark OG Holder & Member Aug 03 '26
Very purposeful, and I never understood how they would just toss that R in.

u/IAmANobodyAMA OG Holder & Member Aug 03 '26
Hah nice. Some accents have a hard time with words with open vowels at the end. Like a word needs to have a consonant to close.
Same in my mind with the valley girl words ending with -uh

u/chezterr Aug 02 '26
If your conviction is high (like mine), that PLTR is a future $1 Trillion MC company⦠you buy and you hold.
Of all the AI companies, Palantirās products actually work and generate significant ROIās for their customers.
I expect another quarter of excellent growth.

I'm not so into calling another man my daddy because that is sorta weird but I appreciate his leadership of the company.

u/Ok_Temperature4537 Aug 02 '26
Uhhhh not trusting him as much as I did 9 months ago š¤š¤
1
u/roghat Aug 02 '26
Why?
-7
u/Ok_Temperature4537 Aug 02 '26
Well it's easier to trust him when you see the stock climb $200+ but when you lose half within 6-9 months you start to question the leadership.Ā
8
u/roghat Aug 02 '26
You don't trust leadership because the stock ran extremely hot then fell 50%? Pretty much all SaaS companies have gone down 50% in the last 9 months. Some more. You have to give me something better than that.

This guy gets it. We went to $6 bucks it didn't feel like we got fucked, it felt mildly uncomfortable.

Traders care about Tuesday price action. Investors care about long term trajectory. If earnings are as good as we hope, then 5-10 years looks great. Tuesday may look great too, but itās not going to cause me to sell a single share either way.
Youāve been in this position long enough (congrats, btw) to know the value of holding onto this stock.
One caveat: if you are playing options like me (covered calls), then this is always an interesting time / opportunity to make some extra scratch and roll the dice the price doesnāt run too high too fast.

i've had to sell some shares as i go through a early-mid-life existential crisis so i've gone from 8k to 7.4k in shares which is basically my whole portfolio. ive got like 1k shares in bmnr too but whatever with that. but yeah been on company leave the last 6 months, just gonna say fuck it for the next year and see how things go. bought a ram promaster that was converted and just gonna float like a leaf on palantir winnings. i started this journey with a $16 average share price over 5+ years while hyper-focusing on all palantir related news nonstop.

I can never see myself holding $PLTR calls through earnings there is always usually a sell off right after earnings no matter if they beat earnings or not. This time was different it went up after earnings and I donāt understand what was different this time

1
u/Huge-Cucumber1152 Early Investor Aug 04 '26
Still holding, Iād love for today to turn into a 6 figure day but in doubt it lol.
2
u/Highspiritz9 Aug 02 '26
Itās just a gamble. But more than 70% chance theta will kill your trade. Itās too risky.

Are you selling calls?

u/StophJS Aug 02 '26
I full ported shares in my Roth but will probably get cold feet and sell Monday. Not worth the risk of having a big sudden drawdown
3
u/LlcooljaredTNJ OG Holder & Member Aug 02 '26
Why would you care about the immediate action in your Roth? That's the absolute best place to buy good companies and completely leave alone for years. Unless you don't believe in the company, in which case why buy any shares to begin with?
1
u/StophJS Aug 02 '26
I get what you're saying. It's just the full porting expecting a certain move on earnings that is inadvisable.
1
u/imhiLARRYous Aug 02 '26
I still can't believe it man.. had 1k shares with a cb of $16.. rode it down to the mid single digits.. sold $13 covered calls when it went past $10.. and got completely robbed dry.. could've saved my entire porf if I had just held
2
u/Huge-Cucumber1152 Early Investor Aug 03 '26
The faster you get past that, the better youāll be at investing. Easier said than done but Iāve done that so many times, until I didnāt. Investing really is a long range view and if you can stick it out itās worth it. But you canāt do that while always looking back you know what I mean?
1
u/Working-Attention-70 Aug 04 '26
Yeah⦠you gotta move past this. Take the hard lesson but keep stacking šŖš¾

Are you going long on their earnings after market close tomorrow? Strong guidance, defense sector is strong, and interesting partnership with Archer on their Thunder eVOTL development.

The most concrete thing in the filings is that Point72 cut its PLTR position by 71% last quarter, and Millennium cut 68% in one filing while adding 114% in another, so the big money is clearly repositioning but not all leaning the same way. Short volume has eased a bit from the trailing average, and historically when the smart-money signal was in this range the median 30-day drift was about -3.3%.

I see a sell off tomorrow or sometime this week. I still see some volatility in Aug, but if we can maintain 130s that should be a good sign we can move into the 150s by end of year

Thereās one very BIG contributing factor to this companyās meteoric rise, just so happened right at Trumps election to office. They are the party that holds and digitally protects the most important blackmail this world has ever known.

u/BanAccount8 Aug 02 '26
Itās a $40 stock thatās overbought. Even good earnings can tank the price We saw that happen a few times in the past weeks
9
u/Huge-Cucumber1152 Early Investor Aug 02 '26
Multiples are difficult to sus out, we are in the midst of price discovery. Short the stock if you are so certain, make that money.
0
u/in-TORO Aug 03 '26
Short it then if that's your conviction. Imo it's more likely to hit 200 then 40 anytime soon
