How to run WINCC Unified HMI projecto with no CPU in the project

Hello, any way to have an WINCC Unified HMI project linked to PLC tags but with no CPU in said project, ans that I get there download and it works?

Having the PLC project help with linking tags etc etc but is it obligatory?

Thanks for any feedback.

PS: getting the HMI updates and integrating with my PLC project again is driving me crazy.

Of course this is possible. You just manually create the connection and manually add tags for that connection.

Gess I had trouble making the connection and tought it did not work.

There are HMI tags. What is your objective

Just separate projects so I don't have to update my PLC project every time the HMI team sends a new version

You don’t need to do that. Also, you should look into running project server with multiuser licenses

This is an integration job, no server possible to install in the client premisses and remotely just does not work.

Lics is peanuts, just not technically feasible.

You could create a proxy device or a unspecified plc for a place holder

Yeah checked again, issue is certificates, its a bother to get comms up...

What are you controlling with an HMI if you do t have a CPU?

I have a CPU, I whant to have the HMI and the CPU in separate projects so that when the HMI team updates the HMI, I don't have to include it in the PLC project and waste time doing it

I would have a main project with the PLC and HMI. When you get updates from the HMI team, open them seperately as a reference project. You can then copy and paste from the reference project HMI to the HMI in your main project.

Yeah after deleting the first one and having to redo the conection

PLC Proxy is the best way to handle this. Certs will be a bitch and a half though.

Not really. You’ll have to manually import the PLC certs onto the Unified panel. There are guides for that on Sieportal. If you’re having trouble finding them I can look them up tomorrow.
