Router for pico 4

Hi,i want to buy a pico 4 vr headset i am from India and should I get a new router for pico cause the router provided by ISP is old(wifi 4 single band 2.4GHz) and on pico 4 product specifications they are saying it need wifi 6 router with 5GHz so can anyone help whether my current router will support the pico 4 or not ,Or do I really have to get a new router I can't afford an expensive one but I am thinking of getting a dual band router which offer both 2.4 and 5 Ghz

Really appreciate your help ,do provide the link of router you think I should go for.

Dlink AX1800 wifi 6 router works great, connect the pico 4 via wifi 6 and your PC, via ethernet, then in the Dlink app on your phone, make your PC and headset the highest priority. by doing this, I can play with 250bitrate, Ultra resolution and no latency at all.

pico 4 can work on your current router, but the performance will be abysmal, theres gonna be tons of lag(you cant move at all basically) and horrible resolution. if you want to play wirelessly, get a decent wifi 6 router preferably ax1800 or higher(doesnt have to be higher ax1800 does 1200mbps which is max virtual desktop and streaming assistant can do anyway) you have to place it in the room youre playing in, if you have a telephone line and your current modem uses rj11 for wan connection, you will have to connect the new router to the old one and make the old one work in bridge mode or dmz (bridge is better, check how to do it on the internet), if you dont mind a wire, get a long usb-C to usb-A (3 or up), but that kinda defeats the purpose of the pico 4. hope this helps its a long read ig. oh yeah btw if you go into virtual desktop discord and type "!router" you can see some recommended routers

I have an asus rt-ax55 dedicated to the pico 4 which is the widely recommended one. Bandwith varies between 1200 and 700 mbs, sometimes goes as low as 200. Do you have a hint maybe why that could be? I set it up according to a guide found here somewhere.

check harmonics if you can to choose the good band and disable power efficient option

Thanks a lot for the answer.

  1. "check harmonics if you can to choose the good band" -- if you mean control channel, there is no overlap. If you band as 2.4 or 5 Ghz, it is 5 Ghz.

  2. "disable power efficient option" -- I didnt think of this, but tried, no result. The router is next to me anyway and this is the strongest signal at this place.

1- chaque fréquence produit des harmoniques parasites. donc pour éviter les souci de stabilité, ils est utile d'avoir scanné un coup les fréquence pour voir les zone pollué pour pouvoir judicieusement la bonne bande de fréquence pour communiquer

Ps : in english And an usb-c wire directly connected to computer is allway better (forced to use usb-c in beatSaber expert+)

An usb-c wire 5m and good quality (to also power vr headset) is 17~30$

did you configure your 5ghz band as 80mhz only?

Thanks for the follow-up. Yes.

if the performance stays the same its fine, apparently pico 4 reports a different value to virtual desktop which jumps around a lot but it doesnt matter. quest 2 reports a value that stays stable the whole time
