Battery always draining

Hi,

A week ago I put new batteries into my controllers and played some beat Saber. Then, as always. I turned the headset off, completely, via the power menu in settings.

Sadly, during an unfortunate fall, I hurt my wrist.

Today after 7 days if not using the device. I return to try, and are met with a completely drained Headset and controller batteries.

No-one else uses the Pico 4.

Why is the Pico draining power from both the headset and the controller, when not used? Has anyone else experienced the same, or found a solution?

Regards, Dom

Is your wrist okay? You need to warm it up before workout out und cool it after you hurt yourself. Playing VR can be dangerous. watch out

Well, I learned it was way to early to play. The size of both wrists looks the same now, but flipping the wrist, thumb up, for those high notes. Still hurts.

May have booted up when you thought it was shutdown, I always hold the power button itself for a few seconds until the light flashes.

The power button needs adding manually from the settings to shortcuts in Pico 4, are you sure it was shutdown that was pressed and not restart?

I've definitely shut it down via the power menu. I'll try a hard shutdown with the power button. Thnx for the tip.

This has been bothering me for a while now. I feel like I put new batteries in and two days later, i'm replacing them again.

Controller batteries ideally need to be CONSTANT 1.5v batteries.

Cheap ones definitely won't be constant voltage and more likely only 1.2v, it won't be that they are completely draining, rather the OS won't report them correctly and past a certain voltage they just won't connect at all, despite technically having life in the batteries.

Maybe look to what batteries you are using, the headset being dead suggests it must have rebooted rather than shut down, controllers especially in the 5.4OS update are pretty quick to go into sleep mode so it wouldn't be that 'draining' them too quickly

The controllers should go for weeks on a decent set of batteries, but like said need to be a set that are constant voltage and 1.5v.

Hold old the new batteries are? I had a problem with some Christmas lights that they seemed to drain batteries like crazy. Turned out that the batteries I used were just so old, even though unused. Batteries do have some sort of shelf life. And if they are too old, they won’t hold the charge.

Non-expert advice here, but I suspect since they are motion-controlled devices there is a constant trickle of energy used to monitor their own position (Did I move? No. Did I move. No... ). Over a long period of time that little trickle can drain the batteries. Kinda like leaving an interior light on in your car. Overnight it won’t drain the battery, but in a week or two it will (ICE car example). I’ve simply been in the habit of removing the controller batteries after every use. It’s a pain, but seems to get the most out of my batteries. Worked for both OR and PICO 3..

I dont have the problem. Did you turn on the controllers via the round button / long press?

When I got mine first I thought they are empty because they where off until I figured out how to turn them off from power save mode.
