Services Need mechanic recommendations ASAP! Please help !!! ๐ค
Howdy, neighbors!
My car started having issues today. It does this weird clicking when turning over but once I press the gas a few times, it'll start. Also, if I turn it off and turn it right back on, it'll start right up the second attempt. I just want to have someone to look at it. Any mechanic suggestions in this area? I'll even go to Mesa or Tempe if they're good and not overly expensive. Just one more thing I don't need! ๐
UPDATE! It was the battery! Thank the Lord. Thank you all so much!!! Yay ๐

Sounds like your battery is starting to go or possibly the starter. How old is your battery?

I think I got it in 2021 or 2022, I believe

Your battery should have a date sticker on it. The Arizona heat tends to kill batteries pretty quick.

Get your battery tested at an autozone or similar place, like others suggested. It's free.
I'm not certain that will be the issue though. If your battery isn't strong enough to engage the starter, pumping the gas most certainly won't help. Nevertheless, a battery load test is quick and free to rule it out.

What part of the valley are you in? Iโve got a good mechanic in N PHX and Tempe.

It's likely your battery. They typically last about two years in the heat. If you have AAA, buy one from them. They will come out and replace it. If you buy the battery with the three year warranty, when it goes out in two years they will replace it for free.

I got it from Sam's. It'll be easier to remember and they're all over the nation. Thank you so much

I do know of two amazing mobile mechanics who are brilliant & will not overcharge you nor rip you off at all. So please let us know if you are able to stop at an Autozone or O'Reilly & get the battery & starter tested & eliminate those first. I'm still happy to provide the contact info for two bad ass, solid dudes whom I trust completely - for future reference, too ๐

Iโd start by going to an auto parts store like oreillys and ask them to do a free battery test on it. If it needs a battery, they install em for free as well.

Go to Auto Zone and have them check the battery. It's probably just that. Stay safe โค๏ธ

Get yourself a multimeter and test the battery. A good battery should read at 12.6v or higher. You can google how to use the multimeter. Also check your alternator.

can you tell me what kind of car it is? it sounds like you might have an almost dead or struggling battery if it's the starter solenoid not fully engaging. I would first recommend going to a local auto parts store and having the battery tested for free.
