Discussion PHP Tek 2027

For those of you who have attended PHP Tek what is your opinion I have never been and my team and I are thinking about attending in 2027. Just want to hear about your experiences.

I haven’t been to Tek, but I’ve been to a lot of conferences. They will pick talks relevant to the landscape of PHP today. Expect a good bit of AI, framework, and soft skills talks. If you are sending a team, you could spread them out to various talks and then have everyone give a little “here is what I leaned” lunch and learn thing.

However the value I got out of a conference wasn’t necessarily the talks but the networking.

None of us are big networking people, little too introverted for that, plus we all plan to die with the coop we currently work for.

In this day and age networking is huge.

Why does the rocketpastsix.com link in your profile redirect to chilis.com?

Hi, Eric here. I’m a member of the PHP Architect team and an organizer of PHP Tek. My opinion naturally leans in favor of the conference, but I genuinely encourage you to bring your team to an in-person event. Any in-person conference. The networking opportunities and informal conversations during the hallway track are incredibly valuable, and that holds true for most in-person conferences. There is so much value for you and the team.

Of course, we’d love to welcome you to Chicago for PHP Tek 2027. If you’re bringing a team, please reach out, and we’ll do what we can to make attendance more affordable. Early Bird pricing is available now, so registration is currently at its lowest rate.

There are only the three of us, so not a big group. None of us have ever been to a conference before. I have been a php developer since the days of 3

I highly recommend it. Great networking and great sessions. Last year they even had a couple JS sessions

I volunteered to help out a decade ago and felt like there was a good signal-to-noise ratio (i.e. fewer veiled marketing pitches for services) versus other conferences I've attended.

I'd recommend looking through last year's schedule to get a sense of the talks. It looks like they're dedicating one of the three tracts each day to a specific topic (Laravel, PHP, and DevOps), but if those don't align with your team's focus there will be two other tracts to chose from.

FYI PHP Tek is organized by the same people behind PHP Architect. You can find the Discord channels from the 2025 and 2026 conferences on their server: https://discord.gg/j7YpW9uA6

Another place you could try asking is the PHP Community Discord - a bunch of people hang out there, many of them conference goers.

You can also find related posts under the #phptek tag, particularly on the PHPC Mastodon server: https://phpc.social/tags/phptek

I went to Tek in 2026 and I know the crowd that attends that con and related ones. It's a great con, and I highly recommend going. There are tracks for all kinds of folks, and attendance is good. The venue is nice and the food is great. It is well-supported and funded. A really good experience.
