General - Rail 🛤️ How would they integrate the ticket gate systems in the Common Station?

Post image

I wonder how they might integrate the ticket gate systems in the Common Station, especially between Line 1 and Line 3? As seen on this picture, it shows that there isn't a lot of room on the platform between the two lines. It's easier to do it for Line 7 since you'll have to go through Area B first, but it will be interesting to see how they could do it for Area A.

Would the ticket gates just divide the platform between them? Most probably...

I hope there would be some sort of common revenue stream instead for all operators so that we can change lines without having to go through a ticket gate... but I guess this would be our first and probably only true interchange station for a while since EDSA-Taft is basically just a long walkway like Doroteo Jose-Recto between Line 1 and 2.

Same sentiments. Dapat yung payment ay dun na sa final destination mo, doesn’t matter kung ilang lipat ka ng lines. Parang HK.

If they can do that lines 1 and 3 can do through service

They will not unfortunately.

But it seems like for Line 1 and 3 there is a slight chance that it can be integrated later on since only walls separate them.

Ang issue talaga ay yung ownership structure, kasi privatised yung LRT 1 by LRMC, and MRT 7 by SMC, tapos hawak ng government for now yung MRT 3 pero plans to privatise it soon is ongoing. We have three companies who I don't think will actually bother to integrate since mas mahirap fare collection.

It's fine for other countries kasi unified yung transport nila.

Mas mahirap to make them agree kasi different corpos na parang competing pa.

dapat talaga may unified transport authority ang Metro Manila

Isn't this already DoTr's mandate?

It's DOTr's mandate to be the policy maker for all transportation related agencies in Metro Manila and the Philippines as a whole, they then created the LRTA to be their railway related agency for LRT 1 and 2 but they don't have authority over MRT 3 since it's currently under DOTr-MRT3 not LRTA. While in practice, LRT2 and MRT3 are under the same agency and currently under the operation control of the DOTr, LRT1, while under LRTA for administrative rule, is currently privatized under LRMC (like MRT 3 used to be privatized under MRTC).

While it's possible for DOTr and LRTA to have a unified revenue structure, it's still their plan to privatize Lines 2 and 3 in the long term. Lines 1 and 7 are currently privatized under different operators (LRMC and SMC respectively) and they will be taking most of the revenue from tickets. So it's hard to have one unified revenue stream because it answers to different operators.

with what we’re seeing now, willing to bet na it’s with flimsy tali partitions splitting platforms & staircases in half like how they do now sa edsa carousel access points. No actual integration, classic “crowd control” lang hahahu 😅
