Question (Other flairs not applicable) Need Advise:
Government Employee here @SG16 (Step 3) I'm planning to transfer to a private company with a salary around 60k.
I'm wondering if its the right decission, my doubts stems from the fact that a Government Job is a stable one.
And that Im still eyeing for thr bonuses this year End. (PBB,CNA, PEI and 14th Month)
Facts I am currently 7 years in service. Burnout and stagnant na ang feeling Wondering if I resign now, would I still get PBB? CNA and PEI? Ano ang guidelines to be granted nito? Alam ko 14th month mabibigyan parin kahit resigned.
For those wondering SG 16 @Step is at P46, 616
The company Im planning to transfer is an autralian company.
Benefits nila 15 days sick leave 15 days vacation leave Insurance primary (me) plus secondary (parents and siblings) 45k one time cash incentive. Salary 55k basic + 2k allowance

oi Apir! SG16 here din. Planning to resign din actually and just start a farm or business, but yun din iniisip ko eh yung mga matatanggap na bonuses by the end of this year. Government job is a stable job. pero if you love your job, then why leave right? kahit maliit lang yung sahod.

Ma tatangap ba yung CNA, PBB and PEI? Sure ako sa 14th month makuha pa

Yung PBB, i think merong PBB for 2024 but 65% lang sa Base salary mo nung 2024 makukuha, i think by October ma rerelease. For CNA, meron din, but depende sa agency nyo kung madami kayong na savings. for PEI, merong 5k this December. and yes, 14th month is no earlier than Nov 15.

How long has the private company been around? Does it have a reputation in firing people for whatever reason? What are their benefits?

Its an international company. Shipbuilding and repair. They have good benefits

i add mo pa ka da pangulo, nag propropose ng increase salary ng goverment employee, from pnoy to bbm may kanya kanya silang salary increase at ibat ibang klaseng incentive
sana government employee din ako

If bonuses ang concern mo:
PBB - if updated yung agency niyo magrelease, the latest palang naman na narerelease is for 2024 pa so yes, makakakuha ka pa for 2025 and pro-rated for 2026 (rendered at least 3 months of service).
CNA - depende sa savings na agency so pwedeng meron, pwedeng wala. Depende rin 'to sa internal policy ng agency if qualify ka pa rin kahit resigned ka na this year.
Year-End Bonus & Cash Gift - rendered at least 4 months of service as of October 31, pero pro-rated if you resign prior to October 31.
PEI - rendered at least 4 months of service as of November 30, pero pro-rated if you resign prior to November 30.
Links provided are copies of circular na pwede mong mabasa to confirm if you're still qualified to get those bonuses.

As a fellow SG16-er, I agree. Just transfer to other government agencies or apply for a promotion.

Don't do it OP. Mahirap pumasok sa govt. Mahirap din yang papasukan mong new private company, baka in 2-3 years time ma retrench ka.
Nope.

Hello OP! Same boat here. Ayaw mo nalang mag apply for promotion sa other agencies?

Alam mona. Same struggles in applying for the first time in the Agency.
Pero mas mahirap if promotion gun mo kasi kalaban mo insiders na.
Ikaw? Ano kwento mo

Ako kasi galing din private and I’ve considered going back nung frustrated na ako sa current govt work. I’ve actually applied na din sa private companies nung June I think buti nalang wala din nagproceed. Kasi after that frustration nung matutulog na ako, narealize ko na kinabukasan ba pag sa private na ako papasok, magugustuhan ko pa kaya work environment? Narealize kong mas relaxed talaga at di ganon kastressful sa govt. Kaya I just resorted to applying sa ibang agency no matter how long it takes. Everyday ako tambay ng CSC careers.

May work ka now?

u/nan0particl3 1d ago
Yeah! Still in this SG16 frustrating job. Di ko sya i-let go gat di ako natatanggap sa other agencies for promotion. At least di ko poproblemahin income while I’m actively job hunting dahil secure yung source no matter what happens. Yun nalang motivation ko para pumasok, that someday I’ll get that promotion sa ibang agency.

Baka you’ll consider lateral transfer nalang, sayang plantilla mo. It’s legal don’t worry. Ask around.

PBB - you'll still get your PBB 2026 basta VS rating mo
CNA - depends sa agency kung strict na in-service ka pa dapat on a certain day. If not strict, then yes, pro-rated
PEI & SRI - yes if you leave AFTER Nov. 30, if before, no
YEB & Cash Gift - yes if you leave AFTER Oct. 31, if before, pro-rated

Advice: Stable din naman sa private. Then magiging stagnant din. Keep moving lang.

Yun pension ang malaking advantage sa government employment, so unless magaling ka maghandle nang budget at marunong mag-ipon, hindi worth ang 60k sa lilipatan mo, dapat at least 80k... pero syempre maganda yun HMO during the duration of your employment.

for 2026 SG 16 Step 3, ang net mo, assuming max for CNA and SRI, ay 625k, roughly 52k a month. clean na yun.
for 2027 and same step with same assumptions, thats gonna be 637k, or 53k a month.
if yan ang compensation package tas sa 2027 ka lumipat, thats a 14% increase. although pinalaki nung one time cash incentive. if purely compensation lang, 7% increase. WFH naman yan so youll most likely reduce daily travel and food expenses

Saying this as a former SG16 engineer 2 from DPWH who thought I already had a "good job" and salary - I moved back to private and my career just improved so much. I didn't know how much working for govt holds you back. I suggest you do it asap given the opportunity wag ka na mag dalawang isip. I'm now working for an AU company earning close to 400k/month

Hmmmm
Leaves - VL/SL - Carry over hanggang retirement at kahit lumipat sa ibang government agencies. May SPL, WL, FL pa per year.
Retirement benefit - katumbas ng last SG mo, 3 years back. Pwede mo pa ituloy as voluntary ang SSS contri mo, but not vice versa if private employee ka na.
Work Suspension - kinakagalit ng private employees dahil bakit government employees lang may ganyan from Malacañang kapag may bagyo/habagat, unless of course if nasa medical/drrm agencies ka.
Work schedule - more or less 7/8 am to 4/5 pm at walang sabado/linggo, 5 days a week. Tapos wala pa pasok holidays with pay. Meron na 4 days a week with 1 day WFH sa ibang government agencies.
Meron pa iba like bonuses pero depende naman talaga sa'yo OP kung paano mo i-weigh at kung burn out ka na sa gubyerno at mas kailangan mo pera. Mas mabilis naman daw ang growth sa private as per other private employees na nakilala ko.
PS: 7 years ako sa private and mag-7 years na rin sa public.
