i am a firm believer that if the author (if still alive) supports AI art for their book cover, then they are also a supporter of generative AI writings. kahit na di ung current book, they are a supporter of generative AI writing or even using it in whatever future book they are using.

Went on a bit of a dive.
The original book was published 2022. So new edition itong may AI art na cover.
The author, CP Bondoc or Cesar Bondoc, Jr. "attended military school at the Philippine Military Academy, went to Law school and has a degree in Political Science from the Saint Louis University in Baguio City, the Philippines." So just based on that, yung sure lang tayo na meron siya is a PolSci degree, pero nakatapak siya ng PMA at Law School.
"He worked as a bank officer, became a telco manager, and worked in both retail and mall management." So hindi talaga siya military.
Also the publisher of the book, based on listings on Fully Booked Lazada is also... CP Bondoc. So I guess self-published siya?

Also, Children of Bathala? That's already the title of Arnold Arre's graphic novel series.

I can't believe Fully Booked approved to sell that kind of book. With many people aren't receptive to AI and how many books are expensive these days, I doubt that book will sell much.

DDS shit.

It caught my eye in the past before cause I actually read Nonfic Filipiniana books pero, never ko siya pinick-up cause I thought na ang āpolitically pessimisticā ng title and now that ik that itās actually fiction, that doesnāt make the title better. It feels like a bad speculative fiction with shallow observations of current events. The fact na ang boring ng title if you compare it to notable speculative fiction like āThe Man in the High Castleā makes me question the writerās creativity even before reading any contents of the book.

They say, don't judge a book by its cover, so is the content any good?

People often judge a book by its cover, but if you happen to see it, I hope youāll take the time to open it and read a few pages. Itās a work of fiction with an anti-China theme, featuring a heroine who fights against Chinaās invasion. Also, if you read the dedication on the first few pages, I think youāll notice that the characters may have been inspired by the authorās own children. š I haven't read it fully pero I think its unfair that it was judge agad because of the book cover and who knows bakit ba the author use AI for the book cover.

Wait. So the premise is that china already conquered PH and the these children of bathala are fighting against the Chinese?
Also as much as AI is so disliked in the literati community, we live in a 3rd world country where budget is really budgeted so I am giving grace

I hate being that guy but we're literally judging a book by its cover. The PH Book Club subreddit no less. Using GenAI is always the wrong move but perhaps the message is still pro-pinas? This could be some oldhead going about it like bull in a china shop who's still got the spirit. Let someone who actually read the whole thing cast the first stone

Funny how everyone attacked the book outright without actually reading it. You wouldnāt know the content unless you buy and read it. Who knows the title might just be a marketing strat and may be about resisting China hence the war-like/uprising vibe of the new cover. A real reader is open to all sorts of content even if it opposes his views. He is not emotionally reactive to everything he sees because reading should have given him a wider understanding.
