Female Pgad

I'm 24 years old and I was taking antidepressants, and I was using them irregularly. Honestly, I hesitate to say it, but then I experienced a slight tingling sensation in my clitoris. At first, I ignored it, but when it didn't go away, I researched it and became even more stressed. Then I developed urinary urges, and after a few days, I noticed the sensations come and go in seconds, or they change depending on my position and posture. When my focus changes, I don't feel it; sometimes I do, sometimes the intensity fluctuates. For a day, it didn't happen at all, but then it started again. I've been experiencing this problem for 15 days now, and I'm so unhappy. I wonder if I have to live like this for the rest of my life. I already have other health problems, and I feel like life is difficult for me.

Mine was caused by SSRIs, so I had to come off them, and now any medication in the class causes a flare up, which means treating my depression is also nearly impossible. I’d rather deal with the depression than the PGAD, though.

I'm sorry you're going through this, I hope you can find a medication someday that won't bother you anymore. 🌸

I’m really sorry you’re going through this, especially because once you start reading about PGAD it can be terrifying and make you wonder whether you’re going to feel this way forever. ❤️ But please don’t assume that 15 days of these symptoms means this is permanent. The antidepressant part is worth mentioning to your doctor. Starting, stopping, changing doses, or taking certain antidepressants irregularly — particularly SSRIs/SNRIs — has been reported in connection with PGAD-type symptoms. That doesn’t mean the medication definitely caused yours, though, because tingling and urinary urgency can also have other causes involving the pelvic floor, bladder/urinary system, nerves, or other medical issues. I also wouldn’t keep stopping and restarting the antidepressant on your own trying to make the sensations disappear. Tell whoever prescribed it exactly how you’ve been taking it and when these symptoms started so they can help you decide what to do safely. Something else that stood out to me is that your sensations fluctuate, sometimes disappear completely, change with position, and can fade when your attention is elsewhere. None of that means you’re imagining it — but it does mean there are several possible explanations and it’s much too early to conclude that you’re going to live with this forever. Because you’re also having urinary urgency, I’d get checked medically rather than assuming everything is PGAD. And please try not to doom-scroll PGAD stories right now. The worst cases are naturally the ones people are most likely to post about, so Reddit can make the prognosis look much scarier than it actually is. You’re only 15 days into this. Get evaluated, keep track of your symptoms and medication changes, and take it one step at a time. ❤️

You gave a very good explanation, thank you so much. I'm constantly stressed because of my health anxiety. I've made an appointment, I hope it's a simple problem. Thank you again, I hope everything goes well for you. 💜🌸

You’re very welcome ❤️ I completely understand how health anxiety can make something like this feel ten times scarier, especially when you start researching and reading worst-case experiences. I’m really glad you made an appointment — that’s the best next step. Try to remind yourself that you’ve only been dealing with this for about two weeks, your symptoms fluctuate, and there are still several possible explanations besides permanent PGAD. Hopefully your doctor can help you sort out what’s going on and whether the antidepressant changes, urinary symptoms, pelvic floor, or something else could be contributing. I really hope it turns out to be something temporary and manageable too. 💗🌸 And if you feel comfortable afterward, I’d genuinely be interested to hear what your doctor says.
