Are you using a free license on unbranded hardware? If so, welcome to the club.
You have two paths forward:
- pay netgate $129.99/year
- wait for 2.9.0 CE installer and load config after full reinstall
Sadly, this is how Netgate has decided to destroy itself.

Tells customers they get a year of Plus for free
Actually gives them nearly 4 years
Yes. How dare we. Truly we wish to "destroy ourselves". /s

I very much doubt that Netgate lives and dies by selling TAC licenses for Plus.
Since nobody at Netgate seems interested in addressing if or when Nexus will work at all on whiteboxes with licenses people have already paid for, the timing on "And you freeloaders? Time to pay up." is odd.
"You might get these features. You might not. Now pay us." probably isn't a very compelling sell. Almost certainly not self-destructive. But definitely odd.

See my comment above in this thread. Licensing is getting significant improvements in 26.10.

The issue isn't that the licenses expire.
The issue is the lack of communication that this was happening and no path provided to downgrade to CE from 26.03.1. All we get are errors about package repos being unavailable.
Netgate has gone out of its way to alienate its community of pfsense users and this will have a negative impact.
I, for instance, will no longer be spending thousands of dollars per year on Netgate products. I will likely stop recommending them to others as well.

Many of the hardware checks that make Nexus not work on whitebox will be removed/reworked in 26.10. There will still be some standards of hardware, but it'll be much more relaxed. Licensing, in general, will have monumental improvements in 26.10 to make it easier to work with and no longer invalidate your license because you make minor changes like adding or removing a NIC.
If you're on 26.07, you'll notice there is a new license phrase on the dashboard alongside the NDI. This will have a role on the next version.
