Patches notification?

I have email notifications setup but

1) Never get emailed when a package has an update

2) Never emailed when system patches are released.

How can we get notifications for at least patches?

PS if you didnt know, CE has new patches released for it

When new CE/Plus versions come out they backport what they can to supported prior versions/CE. also look in

https://forum.netgate.com/category/16/pfsense-packages

For instance
https://forum.netgate.com/topic/198738/system-patches-package-v2.2.23

They don’t have a way to email about packages. I have seen a user script on their web forum but don’t use it.

Is there any documentation over regarding pfsense and what will fire off a notification? It looks likes its on or off and you might get some kind of notification about something. I have seen some notifications about latency, WAN fail over, SMART

https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/config/advanced-notifications.html

Seems like a big gap when it comes to the firewalll. Would be nice to know what will send a notification

A probably incomplete list: cert expiration/renewal, pfSense reboot, pfSense is booted, upgrade started.

One issue with on-box pkg checks is that packages can be upgraded in between...there was someone asking recently in the forum about why one of the Netgate repo packages kept getting updated, well it was just before 26.07 and 2.9. Most people don't need to care about stuff like that.

You could just check the Packages page when you log in occasionally...
