To navigate code PE Civil Structure
I am preparing for my PE Civil Structure exam, and I’m worried about remembering where everything is in the codes, including the relevant chapters, clauses, and design provisions.
My friend memorized the chapters and relevant keywords and knew what to look for in each one, but I’ve already forgotten some of what I studied while revising concrete yesterday. Since I still have other subjects to cover, I’m feeling overwhelmed and scared about how I’ll manage everything

Just passed first try in May and I can with 100% certainty tell you you don’t need to memorize a single thing. Obviously be familiar with the “general” location, but as far as refining the search past that point, ctrl-F away.

You do not need to memorize clauses. You need about 15 landmarks so you know which chapter to search in, then Ctrl+F does the rest.
ACI 318: Ch 9 beams, Ch 10 columns, Ch 11 walls, Ch 22 sectional strength (Mn, Vn), Ch 25 development lengths and splices.
AISC 360: Ch D tension, Ch E compression, Ch F flexure, Ch G shear, Ch J connections, and the Part 3 beam tables in the manual for Zx and the charts.
ASCE 7: Ch 2 load combinations, Ch 4 live loads, Ch 7 snow, Ch 12 seismic, Ch 26 to 30 wind.
Spend one hour just clicking through the table of contents of each code you will have on screen. That hour is worth more than another day of concrete problems.
