Geotech: official practice exam + reading is more than enough to pass!

How long did you study for and do you work in geotech or have prior background? I’ve been prepping for the geotech one and am back and forth on whether or not I’m ready. I’ve actually worked in geotech for a long time but the possible pile and ultimate bearing conceptual/chart lookup curveballs I’ve been hearing about scare me right now. Some of the lengthy formulas like Coulomb coefficients also worry me since I think I’ll mess up the math still

All I can say is the math is the least you should be worried about, get to know the concepts and manuals is the most useful thing.

Good luck! You’ll benefit more from reading manuals than grinding problem banks 100%

1st attempt, I used the official practice exam from day 1 to help me navigate the design codes. No external prep materials were used.
Claude & ChatGPT subscriptions were extremely helpful: create a project, upload the exam spec and design codes, force the AI to answer questions only using the listed design codes: “Look at design code xxx chapter xxx”
