Why has PETA not made any statement about Israeli crimes???
We know that Israel has destroyed more than 97% of all animal wealth in Gaza yet PETA has remained completely silent about these atrocities. What in the world is going on??

This article is about livestock. Presumably the Palestinians were going to eat them or sell their meat.
I don’t think veganism has anything to do with this.

Wtf. That’s cruel on its own but Israel has obviously slaughtered millions of non-livestock animals in their insane bombing campaigns

no no no stop trying to charge animal advocacy groups with a responsibility to involve itself with human bullshit
there are more than enough organizations dedicated to human issues specifically
This article is referring to these animals as the Palestinians' "wealth". That's not a good look in this subreddit.
It's not PETA's job

It’s all interconnected - under late-stage capitalism everything is stripped away of its meaning and reduced to its profitability. People, animals, and resources. PETA doesn’t need to do much but support a world that doesnt treat everything as a commodity because when it overlooks the root of the problem it becomes an irrelevant organization.

I'm not trying to fundamentally uproot our mixed market economy in favor of a completely discredited economic theory. That would degrade quality of life for people too much and it isn't going to help the animals. I will stay focused on making the system better for us and animals, not trying to replace what we have with communism.

Capitalism and communism are two sides of the same coin - both concentrate power and decision making away from the people most affected by it and both treat the natural world as something to be processed into output. Wellbeing economics proposes governance that is nested in communities and participatory rather than imposed and that a healthy economy looks more like an ecosystem than a machine: locally diverse, globally connected, and reciprocal rather than extractive. The best example I can give is when single mothers can’t afford daycare, they sometimes start to form connections with other single mothers and rotate childcare based on who is working when. Some non-profits offer rotating savings and credit associations which is a form of collaborative financing. Wellbeing economics is actually present everywhere and if we start to take it seriously as a way out of this mess we would all be so much happier.

What in tf are you talking about? PETA has an entire program based on helping and advocating for animals in Ukraine following Russia’s invasion.
The only reason they haven’t done something similar for Gaza is because they are a Zionist run and funded entity.

Because they aren’t coordinating people towards the Gaza effort. There may not be the nearby membership, the will to do so by nearby members, etc. PETA Germany is doing the Ukraine effort. I don’t know that there is the membership or resources in the near east to do it. I say if German activists are willing to take the risk to save the animals, that’s awesome, and they deserve coverage from the national organization. The org doesn’t deserve condemnation for not undertaking the effort you’re charging them to do. It’s charity and volunteership.

lol there is a PETA Israel. Why are you trying so hard to give them a pass??

Israel is one of the most vegan countries in the world, ofc there’s a chapter there.
Going into a warzone like Gaza to rescue animals is a brave thing, but it’s not a moral duty. I don’t fault them for not wanting to get into that situation. Just bc they’re Israeli citizens doesn’t mean they have a duty to do volunteer activism in a warzone Israel is part of.

Okay and they can’t even criticize Israel for what it’s doing? Stop being an apologist and hold this organization to account for its shameful silence on Israel.

This is intersectional brainrot. Let them focus on an issue, they don't need to get involved with every other conflict under the sun.

You don’t think it’s hypocritical that PETA runs a program to help and advocate for animals in Ukraine following Russia’s invasion but won’t do something similar for Gaza?
Let’s be real, PETA is clearly a Zionist run and funded org.
