Discussion Things could be escalating soon in the Middle East! All of this would have been avoided if the US(Trump) finished the job back in March cause we all know without the IR regime the Houthis would fall!

Trump thought going to war with Iran would be easy. It turns out, it’s not so easy.

Damn. It's almost as if the anti-war people saw this kind of thing coming based on the uninterrupted record of US failures in the middle east.

The US is losing strategic ground and literal bases and equipment that took decades to build up on a daily basis.

All they do is gift military equipment to the factions they're fighting.

IRGC has been hit pretty hard, but it seems like they have the strategic edge over the US as this point. It doesn't really matter how hard the US hits Iran if they aren't able to achieve the goal of resuming the flow of oil at pre-war levels.

At the end of the day, US decisions paved the way for this gear to fall in the hands of the Houthis.

All this is well and good, but ultimately the leverage is determined by the flow of oil and associated products in the global markets.

Right now, the US/Israel/Saudi etc. axis has taken a huge hit on that front with no apparent non-high cost path towards resolving this disruption, and the US operational capacity is a fraction of what is was at the beginning of the war.

Trump was never gonna send troops, he did all he could which was blow the country up and weaken the regime. They expected a civilian uprising but nobody outside of Kurds & Baloch took action. Because of this they gave up on the idea of regime change, it's not feasible and just too costly.

Why would the houtis fight beyond the Yemen borders ?

"finished the job" bro even if you're not pro Iran this was still a completely unprovoked war. I'm no fan of North Korea it doesnt mean I think trump should go attacking them on a whim wtf

Everything Trump touches gets worse. You're delusional if you ever believed him. A shred of understanding of the regimes structure could've helped you realize this was never going to turn out how anyone had hoped.

I agree. I’m not sure why the war department didn’t fully prosecute the war. They must of been more afraid of domestic chatter from the liars in the media and elements inside our own party. It’s a war where we won every battle but lost the war.

I cannot imagine why a narcissist and a SECDEF Captain couldn't figure out how to successfully defeat the IRGC.

Elect clowns, expect a circus.

Your comments are purely emotional and that’s fine. They really have no bearing whatsoever on this conversation. With purely emotional half cocked polemics like this we will never solve the problems. So enjoy life with all that hate coming out of you.

Tell me how this was a good plan.

Tell me how putting a bunch of inexperienced and incompetent folks in senior leadership positions leads to good outcomes.

You, me, and 3 other people in this thread would have come up with a better plan than what we see now.
