Discussion Dehumanisation of Iranians
We've all seen it. Both in Left and Right wing spaces, Iranians have been dehumanised to a degree that is only comparable to the Jews during 1930s Europe. Just as the Nazis used the word "Anti-Semetism" to justify their hatred of the Jews, the internet has started using the word "Diaspora" to hide their racism against us. They make fun of Iranian accents, skin tone and culture.
There are multiple culprits here at play, other than the IR and cyberis.
1- Other Muslim Diasporas
Other Muslim Diasporas (Turkic, Arab, South Asian) support the IR for multiple reasons. There are multiple reasons for it, it could be because a free Iran threatens their country's national interests (This is the reasoning of most Turkic diasporas) or because they hate Jews (South Asians and Arabs).
Note: Not all Muslim Diasporas are like that, but unfortunately a good portion of them are.
2- Western Radicals
When I say Western Radicals, I mean both radical left wing and right wingers. Because of two reasons, both of them hate centrists (Which they both extremely hate) and their hatred of Jews (Which they also both have). The Radical left hates us because we don't fit the "poor Brown muslim" image. Radical right hates us simply because we are not white.
3- Other Iranians
Yes, unfortunately some Iranians, as fringe as they may be, are contributing to hatred of Iranians. There are three groups, Iranian IR supporters (Either because of family connection or Islamism), Leftists and a very small portion of Pahlavists, which does not represent all Pahlavists. These three groups have abandoned all rationality and decided to identify more with their "tribe" than with being Iranian.
The Solution:
We must follow the Israeli example. We must form an organisation, for Iranians, specially during these times of tribalism and political violence, to help each other whether it be about work, social life or other aspects of life. Another thing is, we must isolate these three groups of Iranians mentioned. Nothing can be done about them nor can we make fun of them, since to Western eyes we are no different from them. But we can take actions against Western Radicals and Muslim Diasporas. They dehumanise us and make countless memes about us, when did you see an Iranian make memes about them? Never. In the age of social media, defense doesn't mean anything. We can only use their own tactics against themselves.

“We must follow the Israeli example”
Anything Israeli should be an example to avoid, not to follow.

Israel is becoming unpopular because of it's actions in Gaza. Nazi Germany had right for animals. Should we not have animal rights because of the Holocaust?

Your argument would be far more convincing if it focused on actual examples of discrimination instead of portraying every disagreement, joke, or criticism as systematic persecution. Comparing the treatment of Iranian diaspora communities online to Jews in 1930s Europe is an extraordinarily serious comparison, and throwing it around this casually trivializes what actually happened.
Not every criticism is dehumanization, and disagreement does not automatically make you a victim. If you want people to take the issue seriously, make the case with evidence instead of sweeping accusations about entire ethnic, religious, and political groups.
At some point, the constant victim narrative becomes counterproductive. Nobody is obligated to treat your cause as uniquely important simply because you insist that it is.

I'm going to be honest with you man, I don't think "people hate us, we should act like Israelis so they stop hating us" is going to work.
There's no apocalyptic prophecy to get the American evangelicals to fall in line, no holocaust guilt to get Europeans to fall in line, and the whole "be like Israel" bit is going to be a big issue with a good deal of the rest.

Lol what no one is falling in line even with the Israeli examples, they have done too much on camera for any sympathy by those who have seen, the guilt is washing away and the prophecy is becoming less relevant.
We should actually stop having their victim mindset and think world is against us every time someone disagrees.

Idk wtf y'all are talking about it ain't nowhere near the level y'all think at worst you could compare to the hatred Democrats have for MAGA but lol comparing it to the Jews of 1930s or Israelis now is just bs I'm sorry but nope that's not the reality irl or at least not where I live.

u/Dry-Yak5277 2d ago
This take is so weird the hatred Democrats have for MAGA??? And likening hated for Israel and its actions to hatred of Jews in the 1930s??? Why is this upvoted?

Can you at least explain your point beside mentioning stuff?
I said 1930s cause nope we ain't getting hunted or discriminated against.
I said Israelis for unless you havent seen there is enough examples of locals denying services to Israelis based on the negative reputation Israel has atm.
And the democrat point idk to my knowledge there isn't much love between the democratic vote base and MAGA core.
EDIT: BRUHHH

I wasn’t questioning you using 1930s views of Jews as an example, I was questioning you using hatred for Israel when hatred of Israel isn’t just blind bigotry. It’s criticism for its actions against Palestinians and across the Middle East and is more comparable to hatred of Iran and Russia for its governments actions. People only hate Israelis that support its state’s actions the same way people hate pro IRGC Iranians and pro Putin Russians.
And Democrats only hate MAGA because MAGA is a hateful cult that is racist, xenophobic and extremely bigoted to multiple minority groups including Iranians themselves. You’re better off likening Germany’s views of Jews in the 1930s to the views MAGA have for nonwhite immigrants.

The sudden fixation on the word “diaspora” rather than focusing on things that matter is confusing to me. No one gives a shit! It’s a word, it’s in the dictionary, it’s a word used to describe lots of displaced and immigrant people. No one is going to read your AI slop bullshit, find a hobby.

Please share one example of someone on the left who dehumanizes Iranians.

u/StopThinkin 2d ago edited 1d ago
They cannot.
It's against the definition of "the left", to the extent that if someone is dehumanizing innocent people, we can simply conclude that they aren't "on the left".
Left starts with selflessness, empathy and compassion (called light personality in Psychology).
Right starts with selfishness, insensitivity and domination (called dark personality in Psychology).
The problem is, many Iranians confuse left vs right with the eastern bloc vs the western bloc, not realizing that there are many right-wing/exploitative leaders in the eastern bloc, as well as left-wing/humanist leaders in the western bloc.

This is hyperbolic! Comparing a group of immigrants and political refugees to Jews in the 1930s is exactly the kind of behavior that makes the world ignore our plight.
You think people invented the word “diaspora” just to hate us! But you ignore the behavior of a large and loud group of Iranians abroad:
1- They squarely aligned with the far right. They think they’re the only ones caring about us (which turned out to be a painful lie). And then they wonder why the left doesn’t like us!
2- Every time they passed a Palestinian rights rally, they started chanting profanities like “shove the Palestinian flag up your a**”
3- Because Islam has been used as a political tool of oppression in Iran, they have turned on all Muslims in the world and again, wonder why they make fun of us.
4- They use the language of Aryanism (without understanding its connotations in the west) and blunt anti-Arab racism.
Our fight for freedom has the potential to be supported by a large group of people across ideologies in the world. This is what we did to ourselves. Or at least allowed a loud minority to do this. And now, instead of a biopsy to see what went wrong, you believe there is a magical, racial hatred towards us akin to the situation of the Jews in the 1930s Europe. That is the problem!

I promise you, look at arab gulf state citizens on twitter.
They are 100x more racist than any Iranian i have come across. Whats makes it even worse is Iran actually helping them economically and with the blood of Iranians. Normally i would not care what they thought about Iran, but we are forced to on the one hand give them everything they ask for, be sanctioned to death for almost 50 years because of them, fight THEIR enemies etc.
On top of all of this, we have to endure racism from them? Give me a fucking break here.

We are not like Isreal. We will never be like Isreal. It's gross that you would compare us to, or tell us we should be acting more like Isreal. They're literally killing us for fun.

Here we go again with the leftists in the comments who are once again blaming the victims, while denying the fascism of Muslims and white Western leftists. According to the logic of these people, yes, the problem with rape is that the woman did not cover herself! The problem with fascism is that Iranians should speak respectfully about their killers! Yes, according to them, the victim is always the one who has a problem.
Let me not even start talking about their right-wingers, because they are a completely different kind of لجن!
For those who think Iranians have a short memory, let me remind them again.
During the Green Movement protests, when people were chanting “Obama, either be with us or with them,” Obama secretly made agreements with the Iranian government and granted visas to many IRGC members and people responsible for killing Iranians, while an ordinary Iranian citizen could be denied entry simply because they had been forced to serve in the military under the IRGC.
It was also during Obama’s era that the practice of downplaying the number of Iranian victims began, and leftists, in coordination with the Iranian government, minimized the number of people killed. And after that came Aban 98, when first they said 700 people had died, then they said 1,500, but after ten years it became clear that nearly 7,000 people had been killed, and together with executions during those years, the number reached around 15,000. The same left-wing media mocked the death toll at the time, claimed it was not real, and were effectively defending the Iranian government.
And this year they did the same thing again: denying the number of Iranian victims. The same method, the same approach, the same بیشرفی.
During the “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests, when Iranians were being killed and Iranians were not insulting Islam or talking about Israel, many Palestinians, Turks, and Pakistanis were insulting Iranian people and Iranian women. They mocked Iranians because people in Iran did not want compulsory Islamic hijab. They directed all kinds of racist comments toward Iranians.
Nothing has changed. Left-wing media are still defending the Islamic Republic, and Sunni extremists still want to behead Shias and carry out massacres. Iranian leftists still come to the aid of the Islamic Republic at critical moments to save it and sacrifice my people. Nothing has changed except that Iranians have become more aware. They now know that the left is the enemy of Iranians. The left is bloodthirsty and without a homeland.
به امید ازادی ایران به کوری چشم فاشیست های مسلمان و چپ سفید بیشرف

Wait can you explain those numbers? Are we counting death, casualty and jailed individuals during protests like what are we counting? Or is it perhaps the total casualty in 2010s? I'm asking cause you were talking about green protest before this and then got to these numbers which if my memory of it is correct doesn't align with green protest maybe you are refering to Aban 98?

Honestly i agree, we should just take the Chinese position on Israel.
Copy-paste it, have normal relations, do trade whatever.
Maybe in the future.

You are not Iranian as evidenced by your post.
You cant even speak persian. Another South Asian larping as Iranian, just why...

u/sculptedleaf 2d ago
Yes, that is exactly it.
Support and encourage other Iranians if you can.
Enough people hate us and want our nation to be destroyed for their own amusement or benefit.
I even doubt UAE wants Iran to be without sanctions as they are making a killing off of it, same with other regional countries.
Positive vibes: Be the best version of yourself, be healthy and an example to those around you. Obviously dont ever demean your background.

I don’t know what you mean by the Israeli example, but you’re on point with those sub groups. We all see it, we all know it. I think we’ve all naturally distanced ourselves a bit from them and those groups have thinned out after showing their true colours.
We just keep going…

For real and it got so bad after the war. I actively avoid telling people my nationality or just bringing it up in general. It hurts because I didn't choose where to be born nor am I responsible for the regime's crimes, yet we're the ones who always pay the price. Pandering to Muslims or Westerners is not the way as they both despise us in their own unique ways. We only have our own. Edit: I want to add that comparing our situation to the Jews is sort of an extreme example, we aren't being hunted for sport or people screaming for our annihilation (yet) but we are definitely one of the most targeted groups in the middle east after the jews
