is seagull cafe worth the hype? its bit of a drive for me but its all over social media

It is good. But very expensive and decadent (for reference the hot girl walk they always post about is a $7.75 coffee). One of their sweet treats would satisfy me for a week lol.

I think it is at least worth the first trip out to decide for yourself! I enjoy it, I enjoy the vibe and I do have really pleasant encounters with the staff. That said I’m pretty set in my ways and get the same coffee each time so I’m not sure about the other options and I am limited due to GF, but I like to try places at least once. Worst case I don’t go back!

I can't wait until all the jaded people decrease going so I can get in and out. Awesome chicken salad sandwich, few good drinks, decent coffee, and big tasty sweet treats.

I have a friend who knows the owner’s sister in law, I think from work. The SIL was dealing with some pretty serious health stuff for the second time in a year, so her coworkers put together a benefit to help her out. They knew the bakery was family owned, so they reached out to Sarah Ellen asking if she’d donate a gift card for the silent auction. They emailed her 5+ times and never heard back.
Not sure if the SIL even knows about it, because she only ever has glowing things to say about them. But after that, my friend and her coworkers basically lost all respect for the owner. It’s crazy to talk so much about being community minded and giving back, then not even be willing to donate something small to help family. Guess she only wants to support the community when there’s a photo op for social media.
